Phoenix police Chief Jack Harris also said Friday that Jones could face additional charges related to the deaths of the four television journalists who died in the helicopter crash.

I don't know, that's quite a stretch if you ask me. It's one thing to charge him for the death of officers killed in a pursuit but these choppers weren't involved beyond watching.

Depends on how Arizona’s Felony Murder statute is written, if it has one.

It’s not a stretch, it’s outright ridiculous and absurd. The choppers belong to a privately owned corporation out to profit from the event. People always want someone to blame for a mishap for their own comfort. Accept it, sh** happens, even when no one is responsible for it.

The concept of "felony murder" always brings-up a ton of questions when I mention it, so I'll leave for the evening with a short discussion of it here.

Maybe they should think about a way to limit the freak-show news-copter pursuits?? Anyone?

You bet.

He wont be charged with anything involving these news choppers or the deaths involved. It doesn't matter if they ran out of fuel, collided, pilot error, were hit by meteors, or whatever. There was no crime involved that caused the deaths of those aboard the helicopters.

Exactly, and sadly we all saw this coming. It was a matter of time and flight conditions and we all probably thought it would be LA, but we all saw it coming. The media were not an official part of the pursuit and in my opinion the media only prolongs and contributes to these chases. Is it actually news? We know there is a chase do we need to watch every boring detail from start to finish? Is the information gathered of any real value especially considering it endangers their own lives and that of those on the ground? Of course the perps are going to put on a good show. The charges and punishments will be relatively the same, so why not go ahead and put on a good show as long as the copters are there.

After thinking it over I came to the conclusion that he should be charged with involuntary manslaughter for the 4 deaths in the helicopters. I see no difference between the helicopters colliding and two vehicles on the highway colliding while trying to get out of his way while fleeing the police. If not for his illegal actions the helicopter accident would not have occurred.

Agree ...........pilot’s & presstitutes weren’t required to chase this guy. Police Helo’s ....sure a gimme. Not the commercial pandering enterprises profiting from the crime.

The helicopters belonging to those stations was “their” accident ......

As much as I’d love to see this SOB go to jail for as long as possible for his endangering all on the ground in the high speed chase and his carjacking. The New’s Choppers ain’t his burden to bear IMHO.
