Tattoos don’t work well on very dark skin. Black guys started branding themselves 20 years ago instead of getting tattoos that wouldn’t show up. Actually it may have been going on before that, but I didn’t know anything about it untill 20 years ago. My guess is they are branding the black prostitutes because the tats don’t show up.

I doubt if any libertarians favor child prostitution.

Your misreading what the underlying crime is in the article. Its pressing the females into involuntary servitude; thats is

They should be given the death penalty for this brand of pimping. This is a far different issue than a bunch of adult working girls in a double wide in the Nevada desert, where its legal. Fair minded people have no problem with that.

Silly me. When read the title I thought somebody had come up with the idea of "branding" prostitutes as in "brand name".

I guess my mind just couldn't comprehend branding as in cattle.

We are truly living in the age of the lowest common denominator.

Prostitution should be legal.

Pimping however should carry the death penalty.

I agree.

As a young girl, I got the impression (movies and TV), that prostitution was glamorous.

Finally 30 years ago in my early 20’s when I was a young attractive (woman) truck-driver, I got to see how disgusting, dirty, evil and violent prostitution really is. Truck-stop “lot lizzards” are some of the worst.

I guess it never dawned on me that somewhere lurking in the dark, was a brutal pimp, waiting. Honestly - the whole business both tricking and pimping is disgusting, it brings out the beast in all parties including the “john”.

This isn’t prostitution, it’s slavery.

It should be a capital crime.

Funny, you don't see the women treated this way in the legal Nevada brothels.

Truly sad.

I couldn't help but draw some symbolic parallels between this part of the article and our modern tax system/the IRS...

Kristy said that pimps even charge their “girls” for lodging, food and condoms to keep them in debt and under the pimp’s control. The traffickers threaten the women with physical harm to them or their families if they try to leave.

Not this former libertarian. I think we should make prostitution illegal!

a 40-year-old man, Shawn Bailey, and a 22-year-old woman were arrested

See how concerned is this author? She names the male perp but not the female. That's the equality we strive for in America! Way to go, "the concerned women."

Prostitution is only like this because it is *illegal*. I have no special love for it, but there's a reason that holland used to be so safe(before the wave of muslim immigration). Their prostitution and drugs were legal and well regulated. Do the same for the US and you'll see a vast decrease in crime. Probably slow down the illegals too, no profit in running drugs.

While I don’t believe it’s Our Creator’s plan for any woman to engage in the ‘ho business, I do believe the state of Nevada has the best approach to the world’s oldest profession.
