I had a check stolen out of my mailbox. The perps just copied the routing number and placed it on a fictitious bank with a fictitious name and wrote the amount for between $750-880 and cashed them at Wal Marts from here in Mississippi to Springfield, Missouri. At each Wal Mart the specific security camera that was overlooking the individual cashier was not working at the time they cashed the forgeries. Over $9000 was cashed in a period of less than two days. It just doesn’t make sense to me that the only camera in every store that wasn’t working was where these folks cashed the forgeries. Wal Mart has some serious theft problems.

I once caught a young girl taking mail out of my neighbor's mailbox. I called the cops, and followed her to a convenience store she was walking to.

She was about 12 or so, and lived in the Section 8 apartments near the home I was renting. My wife was a teacher near there and had inside info on her mom's "busy" lifestyle which didn't include raising her kid.

My 135 lb Rottweiler Duke kept everyone honest on my side of the chain linked fence the entire time I lived there.

That sounds like the leftwing critique of Wal-Mart. Are you sure you’re in the right place? Perhaps you should be posting over at the DUmpster?

Your Wal-Mart remarks are so lame....Are you saying that no one but Wal-Mart sells stuff made in China.

I was checking out a $1200. designer dress in a very upscale store the other day, and saw that it was made in China.

(In case anyone is wondering--no I didn't buy the dress--LOL!)

Free Markets and Capitalism. And your hatred of Wal-Mart is because you want the Government to determine your choices for you? And for the rest of us? Should we shut them down for making a profit? Those evil corporations!!!!

Everything comes from china, and wall mart is leading that charge. There’s the problem in a nutshell.

The US textile and shoe industries have been decimated. We are in sad shape if we can’t find Americans who will sew up a dress for $1200, that figure is mind boggling to a man anyways.

I am totally for capitalism it is the best economic system ever devised. But like all human institutions, it needs to be policed. This hand over fist no tariffs importing is anything but free trade.

Yes yes yes, that is what we need, more oversight of the free market and more laws, more taxes!!!

What do want?

Higher prices

When do want it?

Right now. Give us more taxes, more laws, more government oversight! The government should save us from ourselves and create a new commission to regulate everything and tax everyone so we can pay for another bureacracy! I get it now. Let’s shut down Wal-Mart! Thanks for making me see the light.

Now on to banning cigarettes and transfats while we take those evil profits from the oil companies!

It seems that every generation socialists, mainly in the ‘RAT party, have a corporate scapegoat to beat like a pinata. We’ve seen the flagrant attacks on General Motors (by the Michael Moores), IBM, and in the 1990’s it was Microsoft. The new boogeyman for ‘RAT socialists and the simpleminded among us in the early 21st century is Wal-Mart.

Wal-mart is being attacked for the corporate success that it has become by providing goods and services at the lowest price. This has been a positive salve, especially for the poor and those on fixed incomes. This economic success has bred a lot of financial envy and resentment from the left side of the spectrum. Now the ‘RAT party has picked up the cudgels and is leading the fight against Wal-Mart.

I would just ask our more conservative posters, and I’m assuming you are a right-of-center conservative, to read Henry Hazlitt’s “Economics in One Less,” Frederich Bastiats (Ronald Reagan’s favorite author) Economic Sophisms, George Reisman’s “Capitalism,” and “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell. This should help explain the importance of wealth creation, and the great job that Wal-Mart does for our capitalist economy.

You need to explain to us how in the USA a scant 50 years ago we manufactured our own shoes, cars, clothes, electronics and most all consumer goods made by citizens in factories and these citizens had enough money to buy whatever they needed for a household on the average mans wages with the wife staying at home raising kids. Next if they had a baby in a hospital they could pay for that event out of pocket.

In light of those facts; how can you defend the economic mess we got going on now?

These boatloads of imports are the direct result of executive greed unbridled.

That cheap stuff from China also lines Kohl’s shelves, Target, Sears, K-Mart and just about every other retailer in America. So why you pickin on Wal-Mart? The other 90% of the stuff they sell is made in America or some other nation that is union approved.

The reason the poor are poor and are reduced to wall mart shopping is that wall mart outsourced the factory jobs they lost to keep them from poverty.

You need to involve all aspects of a situation to be able to intelligently comment.

Good lord, I think you are in the wrong place. Why don’t you start with the tax increases over the years that you so dutifully want more of. The expansion of socialistic programs that coddle the lazy, control every aspect of life/death, and takes the burdens of age away from families with rainbows of government entitlements and government theft.

“executive greed unbridled”

Let me ask you this. Who the F owns corporations? Are they some singular entity with a guy sitting somewhere going "how can I screw the people more"? Ever consider the more you try to hurt companies you hurt the retirements, savings, and net worth of others? 401k, profit sharing, mutual funds? Who owns the companies? Who is greedy? Go back to school.

I am not going to argue with a leftist that can't see the destruction of the family unit caused by a complicent government and exponetial growth of entitlements and vote buying dependence creating programs being the destruction of what you whine about. I will leave that for others. I will just mock you. If I wanted to be at Democratic Underground I would go there.
