This is why I was for Fred before I'd even re-aquainted myself with his political record.
Those who dismiss him in favor of Hunter or Ron Paul or Tancredo simply don't GET IT. Those three and others will be ground up and spit out before they can even open their mouths. It doesn't matter how much one might LIKE one of those guys, they're D.O.A.
This is the thing: Republicans seem to have a horrible ability to grip REALITY these days. We cannot afford to lose in Iraq, but the RNC seems more concerned with getting along with this imaginary Middle American by paying them off with drug prescriptions and pretending we're just like the MSM portrait of liberals.
No one in D.C. on EITHER side understands what it is to LEAD--they only know how to follow, and they are breaking their necks attempting to be the first one to pander the most.
Fred is far from perfect, but he's a lot better than I thought we'd be getting. People need to wake up--NONE of the Republicans other than Fred has a chance--not one of them. The hardcore conservatives will be made scary, while the moderate/liberal ones will be made useless (why vote for a Republicrat when you can vote for a real Democrat?)
I feel an earthquake coming in '08 that could kill one of the parties. Fred may not be Reagan, but if one party has to collapse, I'd rather it be theirs.
*BUMP*
You said a mouthful there, Wolf. As disillusioned as I am with W and the Republicans in Washington--anything, especially Republicans, would be better than electing Democrats!
Whatever sins the Republicans may have committed, it'll be time to forgive when the 2008 elections roll around.
In fact, the #1 reason for Middle America's fury over illegal immigration amnesty is the fear that these immigrants will vote Democrat. I've said before that if I knew they would vote the Democrats out of office, I would personally place a Welcome Mat on the Rio Grande.
And there are Republicans who deserve the support, confidence, and gratitude of the American people (I can't think of any Democrats who do):
Jack Kingston, for example, and he is close to becoming Speaker of the House if the Republicans regain a Congressional Majority.
And Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson did respond to their constituents and repent.
The RINOs--including McCain and Lindsey Graham--should be voted out of office forthwith, of course.
Forget Fred, Sheriff Joe is the way to go.
The former is similar to what happened to Goldwater in '64. I might "like" Duncan Hunter, for example, but he has to overcome the brainwashed and undereducated electorate before I'll stake my horse to him.
