Oil is a global commodity and the Saudis have the world's largest supply of proven oil reserves and they are the world's largest oil exporter. Until the world [not just the US] finds a cheaper source of energy, the Saudis will have the revenue. They can export 8 to 10 million bbls a day for the next 200 years. In the meantime the world's demand will continue to increase as we move from a global population of 6 billion to 9 billion. The US will add 62 million people in the next 23 years or the equivalent of the the current population of the UK. We will have to run just to stand still in terms of meeting our energy needs.
