Wake Forest basketball coach Skip Prosser died on Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack shortly after jogging. Prosser was rushed to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Prosser, 56, was one of the most well-liked coaches in the industry and known for his witty and sarcastic sense of humor.

My condolences to the Wake Forest community. This is a terrible loss. Prosser was one of my favorites.

He was my history teacher in high school. Pretty well liked, and our basketball team went to the state finals under him.

I would venture that coaching, especially basketball, can send ones blood pressure way up there. It's an intense job and I don't know how some of them can handle it and not end up with health problems.

I know that of I were a basketball coach, I would be the worst-case example of the above, so maybe it's a case of projection.

Wow, that is one of those “you never know” type of things. He had a couple of tough years at Wake, but had really lined up some great recruits.

I remember cheering on the Greyhounds that year when he coached them into the NCAAs. That league championship game was fun to watch.

It was even more fun to be on campus that night ;) A treasured memory for sure.

Of course, it wasn’t so fun when Skip jumped town right after the NCAA Tournament to join up with you guys. But that’s basketball, and it’s water that’s long past the bridge, let alone under it.

I was in law school that year (not XU since we don't have a law school, my other two degrees make me a Musketeer), and a female friend there was a Loyola grad so I adopted them as my NCAA team, since the Muskies were NIT bound. As I said, it was to watch them.

Prayers for his family. Somewhere in heaven, Skip and Fr. Hoff (XU president during the time Skip coached Xavier) are talking basketball, life and Irish history.

I had to look him but from what I saw, he did the same things for Loyola as what Fr. Hoff did at Xavier during his tenure. The Jesuits are certainly a rare breed.

From a Cincinnati standpoint, I always thought Bob Huggins would go first. He was lying dead on the floor at Pittsburgh International not too many years ago and continued a rather self-destructive path afterwards.
