Now that liberals have seized control of the U.S. Congress, they are trying to shut down talk radio so the American people can no longer hear the truth from Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and a host of other conservatives.
But isn't that what liberals always do... silence the opposition?
When Lenin seized power in Russia, he murdered millions -- then established a government newspaper Pravda ("Truth") to spread communist lies.
When Castro took over Cuba -- for days after the fighting ceased -- folks heard firing squads executing the new dictator's enemies. Then came the lies.
But this time around, liberals intend to use something called the "Fairness Doctrine" to silence conservative voices.
This high-sounding legislation would supposedly require radio and TV stations to provide "equal time" to opposing views every time Rush and Laura and Sean open their mouths.
But wouldn't that be a good thing? Wouldn't conservatives get equal time on ABC, NBC, CBS, CBB, NPR, and PBS as well?
Hardly!
It never worked that way from 1949-1987, when the "Fairness Doctrine" was policy... and it won't work that way now!

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Just look at what liberals are saying now:
When Fox News' Chris Wallace asked Senator Dianne Feinstein: "So would you revive the fairness doctrine?" she replied: "Well, I'm looking at it, as a matter of fact, Chris, because I think there ought to be an opportunity to present the other side. And unfortunately, talk radio is overwhelmingly one way."
John Kerry, speaking on a New York talk show: "I think the Fairness Doctrine ought to be there... conservatives got rid of the equal time requirements and the result is that they have been able to squeeze down and squeeze out opinion of opposing views and I think its been a very important transition in the imbalance of our public eye."
Senator Daniel Inhofe reported that he overheard Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer declare war on talk radio: "They said we've got to do something about this. These are nothing but far right-wing extremists. We've got to have a balance. There's got to be a legislative fix for this"
And Howard Dean said: "We need to re-regulate the media."
Too bad we can't regulate the DemocRATs out of business. But we're too busy playing nice and sleeping with the enemy. Too many RINOs!
Liberals are only alive because it’s illegal to shoot them.

Sadly, I think you are very wrong. Independent voters and dems have almost no understanding of the importance of the first amendment. Many think conservatives are mean and should be silenced. And, a lot of RINO's would agree. The Fairness Doctrine will have the support of at least half of the amnesty faction of the Republican party, the entire democrat party, and it won't annoy independents very much.
The only people in America who care about freedom of speech today are biblical Christians and conservatives.
If you ask the main stream media whether they are fair in their coverage, they will tell you they truly believe they are centrist in their news. Both sides are presented fairly by them, therefore the 'fairness doctrine' is not needed for them. But ask them about Fox News, then the venom spills forth out of their mouths, on how the 'fairness doctrine' is badly needed on this network.

Talk radio simply validates the conservative viewpoint; it doesn’t create it. Rush will be the first to admit it.
OK how about CNN, or the alphabets?
Imagine PBS comming to a screeching halt because they have to turn over 1/2 their boradcast day to conservative views.
If fairness docrine is applied to the the Television outlets, the reporter’s heads would explode with denial.
