If it was two years ago he would have had to be a psychic prosecutor...

You're right! Make it a year ago.

I will be satisfied when he is impoverished by civil lawsuits and is living on the street or in Section 8 housing. And to be honest, I really don’t care a whit about his family.

Nifong should go to jail.

He serves 5 years in the county lock up

A technical correction, if you please.

Jails (which are operted by counties) are for those sentenced to be incarcerated for a year or less. Those who receive a term of over a year serve their time in prisons (which are operated by states.)

I would be happy to see Nifong wearing an orange jumpsuit in either.

Thanks for the info...I always wondered about the respective purposes of the county and state systems. And, is that a general rule that most states follow??

"For many months, we have sought a real and meaningful apology from Mr. Nifong, for the pain he has caused these families and these young men, the entire Duke lacrosse team, the state of North Carolina and others," said attorney Joseph Cheshire. "We are very appreciative that Mr. Nifong decided to do that today," he said.

I didn't see an apology, did you?

He says that everybody has been hurt (I guess he includes himself foremost) and that it is now time to move on “for the children”.

As I understand it, yes.

My (regrettably delayed) healing offering for Mr. Nifong:
