The most difficult barrier to Irey victory was local media. If you remember, the Irey campaign had almost daily press releases in the last three weeks of the campaign. All local media recieved them, none were reported.
The Irey ground game alone, although formidable, could not make up the gap created by the suppression of truth by the media.
Murtha’s got his own ground game going with the local press, no question.
Sometimes I think we just need a candidate to declare, “I’ll out-pork Murtha!”. Whoever runs against Murtha in 08 already has the patriot vote. We just need to win over more of the pork-bone suckers and he’s history!
