Snow blasts pathetic House panel move By Klaus Marre July 25, 2007 White House spokesman Tony Snow strongly criticized congressional Democrats Wednesday, calling the House Judiciary Committees move to advance a contempt of Congress citation against two White House staffers pathetic.
The panel voted along party lines to bring the citation against former White House Counsel Harriet Miers and President Bushs chief of staff, Josh Bolten, to the full House. Democrats say the move is warranted because Bolten and Miers ignored congressional subpoenas.
The vote drew a harsh rebuke from Snow, who told reporters that the partisanship in Congress quite often boils down to insults, insinuations, inquisitions and investigations.
The White House maintains that the Bush administration has bent over backwards to satisfy the demands of Democratic investigators.
This White House remains committed to the principle that we are willing to accommodate members of Congress, Snow said. They have legitimate oversight interests, and we have made available any individuals and any facts that would be necessary for them to conduct their deliberations.
But the White House lamented the extent of the Democratic oversight, saying it is not in proportion with the legislative business that has been conducted.
Weve had more than 600 oversight hearings, 87,000-plus hours spent responding to oversight requests and 430,000 pages made available to Congress for oversight, Snow said, adding that the investigations have yet to reveal any wrongdoing.

According to the latest polls, about 86% of the American people could be convicted of contempt of congress.
Hey Tony! Ya think that might just be the Dems plan to lock you up in perceived oversight issues to block your agenda, while at the same time showcase their prospects for ‘08? No need to answer. It isn’t about the country anymore. It’s about power and ideology.
A new witch hunt by the White Feather Brigade, and death by a thousand cuts is their motto. With all of the lies, stone walling and corrupt dealing that the president and his staff are accused of, there has to be a bit of truth in there someplace, right. Or so the Democrats would like you to believe.

Tony is no longer at the top of his game. He's suffering from contamination by the "new tone" virus that has infected the WH. Times past, he would have been much more biting in his criticism of this obvious RAT anti-American manipulation of congress and government for selfish party ends.
But despite his bringing up the sheer arithmetic of pages and proceedings that have produced "bubkes" (good move, the arithmetic, and good word), he generally sounds like he's spluttering here.
He's losing his focus and his effectiveness. Too much time with the President. Too much osmosis of "new tone".
Poor Tony.
I heard (but did not see for myself) that he is not looking well. Perhaps he is not at the top of his game due to his health problems.
I don’t know much about Harriet Myers; but John Bolton can run rings around them.
What I am surprised and wonder always is why they brought the two of them together up. That makes no sense.
it’s Josh Bolton they subpeonaed, not John Bolton.
I apologize. I am old, please pardon me.
not a problem. Honestly, I’d love to see John Bolton get ahold of the clowns in the house and senate no holds barred. I believe he has the same amount of loathing for those idiots as I do.
He's even more so nowadays, when attacking a Congress that is trying to do the job we elected good Democrats to do in November 2006. All in the face of R obstructionism and WH perjury.
