The drug smuggler who was shot at by former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean and testified against them when they were convicted in the case was issued unconditional, unescorted access to the United States during a period that included his involvement in a second drug smuggling incident, according to U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R.-Calif.
He has obtained – and provided WND with – copies of Department of Homeland Security border pass cards issued to Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, the smuggler in the case, covering that period of time.
"It appears as though the U.S. Attorney's Office was so intent on getting Ramos and Compean that their judgment was totally clouded to the degree they aided and abetted a criminal who was at that point actively engaged and already involved with a drug cartel," Rohrabacher said in a statement from his office.
.......On March 4, 2005, the U.S. Consulate contacted U.S. attorney's office at the Department of Justice. The Mexican national involved was Aldrete-Davila and the Mexican Consulate's demand led to the indictment and conviction of Ramos and Compean.
Five additional border pass cards were issued to Davila subsequent to March 2005, the last one issued on Jan. 24, 2006, marked valid for "multiple entries" until March 31, 2006.

Good for Rohrbacher, but the same Congress that is getting its shorts in a knot over Miers et al refusing to testify didn't have a hissy about this?!

And the RNC, Bush and the Republican Congress members wonder why the base no longer donates money and/or time. We have seen one travesty after another from this administration, I am so sorry to say. Guess the old adage holds true, “never fall in love with a politician, they will break your heart every time.”
After hearing this major story this morning on L.I. Show, I expected this to be all over the news today, but this is the first I’ve seen of it.
Guess the fact that the higher-ups in federal government are allowing/encouraging drug runners to freely cross the border isn’t important. According to Dana Rohrbacher’s aide who was interviewed first, the free pass wasn’t signed off by a typical authorizer, but it was someone farther up the ladder.
There was much more discussed, and the whole interview was maddening. How does any of this make sense?
And as Hunter pointed out there was NO REASON WHATSOEVER for Sutton to charge them with the ‘assault with a firearm DURING a crime’ statute. THIS is the reason that they got the minimum 10 years. But THIS charge is false, even if everything else is true. This statute is for underlying crimes, such as a bankrobbery when you use the weapon. Compean and Ramos had NO underlying crime, unless Sutton thinks apprehending an illegal alien drug pusher is an underlying crime. And the Jury was not told what that charge entailed.

Either Sutton or someone up the food chain decided to make this an “example” for all to see.
There is some kind of conspiracy going on here with the perp and the Mexican Gov't having a pipeline into Sutton's office (and/or higher).

Bush equals cronyism. Bush now has admitted, when pushed on the pardon issue, that the US attorney who pursued this case is a friend of his. Bush’s rationalization was that the two agents were found guilty by a jury of their peers. Seems to me that Scooter Libby was found guilty by a jury of his peers. Oh, I forgot, Libby is a friend of George as well.

No LEO has ever been charged under this statute designed for piling on charges on criminals. Slimy Sutton was first. I’m praying I live to see Johnny Sutton brought to justice
