OK, I'm wearing a flame suit on this one. A conservative has come out in favor of Rudy Guiliani. Give Burt Prelutsky a listen and decide if he's right.

The author’s description of Giuliani’s policies are dead wrong. The article describes Giuliani as a flip-flopper when he’s really nothing of the kind. He’s STILL pro-abortion, anti-gun, sanctuary city Rudy.
The electability argument is out the moment Fred announces since he’s been running even in head to head matchups.

Unfortunately, I see most on this forum backing Rudy after he wins the nomination in March 2008 in a race against Hillary.

What I like best about Giuliani is that I believe he agrees with me that Islamic terrorism is the single greatest threat not only to America, but to Western Civilization, in the world today. I think he's the kind of guy who doesn't back down and who can rally Americans to do whatever it takes to stay the course and defeat an enemy that should have been exterminated during the Dark Ages, along with the plague-bearing rats.Plus, he's a Hildebeast-Slayer in the general.

Giuliani has done nothing to convince me he won’t sign AWB2 or any other Rat gun control legislation into law. The way I see it, my guns are as good as gone regardless if Rudy or Hitlery wins. That’s why I’m holding out for Fred.

I don't agree with his social philosophy, which is too liberal for me. But when I heard him at the GOP Convention three years ago, I didn't need a translator to understand his points on national security and the War In Iraq. I liked the way he booted Arafat out of his city in the 90s when the State Department pressed for him to be given honors and he told the Saudi prince after 9/11 to go pound sand. Whatever I don't like about him, I admire his actions and the way he stood up to the clueless and morally dense Foggy Bottom types in the State Department. That's the kind of man I want to see running our foreign policy, not Hugo Chavez In A Pantsuit Hillary Clinton.

>> What right-wingers should keep uppermost in mind is that whether the issue is abortions or guns, eminent domain or racial quotas, it’s not the president who makes the call, it’s five people in black robes.
So said the ankle grabbing moron.
>> Finally, I like Rudy Giuliani because ... he never made a secret of the fact that his heart belonged to the Yankees
Is this guy for real?

The issue IS judges. If you like Hillary Clinton's judicial appointees, they will be to the left of Karl Marx guaranteed. I think its sensible for Guliani and for every other GOP presidential aspirants to promise to appoint strict constructionist judges. Whatever else they say, that's the litmus test for me. Five people on our Supreme Court will shape our future far more than any President in office will. So people can disagree whether Guiliani is the right candidacy for our party but I do agree with Burt judges are critical.

I realize he was is in favor of abortions before he was against them and that he was is anti-guns before he was for them... There it's fixed and no reason to continue reading the article.

Burt’s words are fine, but WND isn’t exactly unindictable.
We Giuliani supporters still have time to make an even more cogent case. One that reaches from middle-America through a plurality of FR.
It’s not a matter of hood-winking - it’s a card game with hearts, souls, and minds, and with, um, our troops overseas and Stalinists on the other side. Get Involved With Who You Support. Words are just words. I just sent Tancredo a hundred bucks. The message needs to get out.

On the other hand, his being flip-flopper just makes people look in askance. But he isn't as slick as Mitt Romney. Its slim pickings from a field few of us conservatives are enthusiastic about.

There are many strong points going for Rudy, but his appeal to conservatives is so low that he likely won’t get beyond the primary. I think the line-up just before the primary will be: Thompson, Rudy and Romney, in that order.

IF. Right now, I'm not endorsing ANY candidate. I report, you decide. Fred Thompson still has to be an active candidate and state where he stands on the issues. The waiting is getting old.

He could be a formidable candidate if he didn't have those social issue weaknesses. NONE of the GOP candidates are perfect. In the end, its going to come down to a candidate with character, the right qualities to be President and who will keep us safe over the next decade.

The SCOTUS argument IS retrograde and the guy comes across like a wet noodle. This is the wrong attitude when it concerns electing a person to the Presidency of the most powerful and free Country on the face of the planet!
To: Thunder90
Yup, I’ll support anal leakage before any of the commie rats. I don’t really back Giulliani on much of anything, but if something weird happens and he does win in the primaries.... I guess I could possibly... Hell, I don’t know. I hope Duncan or Fred wins.
