Disarmed by the Dems - Congressional Leaders Fail to Protect Terror Tipsters from Insane Lawsuits

Members of Congress me to finalize provisions of the 9/11 security bill. The Democratic majority was using a technicality to block the so-called John Doe amendment from being included. This amendment, which protects citizen whistleblowers from being sued was sponsored by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) after six imams who were removed from a U.S. Airways flight in november filed a lawsuit against the passengers who reported their behavior to flight crews. The John Doe legislation passed the House in April. Now, King wants to include it as a stand-alone measure to assure its passage apart from the larger bill. It's up to the majority leadership [Pelosi and Reid] whether they will allow the provision to be added to the bill. A senior Pelosi staffer refused several times to say whether Pelosi supports the legislation in principle. Why? What could prevent any member of Congress from supporting no-brainer, bi-partisan legislation that protects Good Samaritans from frivolous lawsuits? According to key Democratic leaders, "racial profiling." Let's put this in perspective. The alleged conspiracy to kill U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix was foiled by a Circuit City store clerk who alerted law enforcement after seeing [on their video] several Middle Eastern-looking men shouting "Allah Akbar" while firing assault rifles and engaging in military-type maneuvers. He discussed overnight with his family whether or not to alert authorities. Lucky for us, he made the right decision. But would he have made that call if he thought getting it wrong might require defending himself against a multimillion-dollar lawsuit? Would you? We disarm ourselves when we succumb to political correctness - which encourages us to second guess our common sense and look the other way. It is an outrage when Pelosi and Reid would allow individuals to be punished when they come forward to protect us all.

It's not hype that the word "insane" appears in the title. It seems that some of our representatives have a death wish. This would be almost comical if it only concerned them. But of course it directly involves all of us as well. I suppose the new rule at Homeland Security should be: Be vigilant - but only if it's PC and you don't want to be sued!

That’s a four-day old article. There’s better news atop the “Breaking News” sidebar:

Glad King is highlighting this Democrat ignorance. I certainly hope King is successful and that 'America at-large' is being informed of the the finer points of this legislative story here.

Think there can be little doubt that the Dems realize, in fact, that there really are underpinnings here with suicidal consequences. Seems they also foolishly imagine, that they will be exempt from the consequences of their actions. I am sure - not - that every Dem candidate will be asked for his opinion on this madness.

Thanks for link. . .and update. Give me 'heart' and faith; that Reason CAN prevail; particularly when so many care to make it happen.

as per post/doug from upland/Congressman Peter King just called in to the Steve Malzberg show. Our elected officials finally listened to us. Those who have no backbones and spines in the war on terror have felt the pressure and are doing the right thing.

Still think this is great question w/issue to pose to Dem candidates. It is a simple question that could easily identify a Candidate. . .
