TOKYO, JAPAN: The Japanese government declined to comment Wednesday (July 25th) on a report that a group of foreigners, including an American, Japanese and Italian, have gone missing in Indonesia, saying human lives may be at stake.
Japan's Kyodo News agency reported Wednesday that a Japanese man and people from the United States, Singapore and Italy had gone missing on the island of Java. It cited unidentified government officials as saying they were investigating whether it was a possible abduction.

Why do people go there?
You couldn’t pay me enough to go. No way.
Why would an American go to Indonesia?
If you need to get away...go to the four corners area...plenty of solitude..find yourself in America!
Personallyyyy I rather go to Vegas or Hawaii than go to Indoensia BETTER YET maybe the UK
Parts of Indonesia are beautiful, in any event I don’t think that we as Americans should be afraid to go anywhere...screw these ignorant wretches. God help the missing people.
In Search of ... The Kaneville Esker !
It is a beautiful, wild and enchanting place. Over 10,000 islands. I lived and worked from Sumatra to Irian Jaya back in the 70’s.
Does not say where they went missing ... it is still easy to drop out of sight on Java I would imagine - the south coast and other areas are still pretty primitive.
Indonesia used to be called the Dutch East Indies - It was a Dutch colony until WWII.
The article gives an impression as if the island of Java is a remote tiny island in Indonesia. It is not. That’s the main ‘island’ where about 120 million of Indonesians live, including where Jakarta (the capital, population >15m) is located.
Yes, but the people have changed...
“Yes, but the people have changed...”
a few maybe - but the majority have not for decades.
A few?
Much of it has become a Muslim rule hellhole.
Let’s leave it at this ... I could go anywhere in Indonesia - blend in - avoid problems - stay out of trouble and enjoy myself.
The majority of non muslims probably could not.
I know the land and the people from first hand experience.
Believe what you will.
