Hunter: 'Postage stamp' Israel should not give up 'one inch' of territory

WASHINGTON — A contender for the Republican presidential nomination has ruled out an Israeli withdrawal as part of any peace accord with the Arabs. Rep. Duncan Hunter, one of 10 Republicans vying for their party's 2008 presidential nomination, said Israel must not withdraw from "one inch" of territory as part of an Arab peace accord. Hunter, the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, termed Israel a "postage stamp of a country" that could not afford to cede territory.

On May 20, Hunter, a California Republican, voiced his position during a meeting with Christian Zionists in Alexandria, Va. He recalled his visit to the Golan Heights, the scene of intense armored battles with Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Middle East Newsline reported.

During his trip, Hunter and his father were taken to a narrow valley in which a handful of Israeli main battle tanks blocked more than 1,400 Soviet-built Syrian MBTs during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The House member recalled that at that point he vowed to support Israel's territorial claims.

I think you’re in denial.

Hunter’s campaign hasn’t made any significant strides to date. That is a fact.

Everyone needs to take the ‘Choose Your Candidate’ Quiz

http://www.dehp.net/candidate/

This was my “score”

Hunter 44
(you have no disagreements with this candidate)

Maybe if you keep telling yourself that, you’ll feel better. Doesn’t make it fact. Your candidate is weak on many issues and when he comes out of hiding, everyone will see what I already do.

>Your attacks on Fred T.....<

This thread has nothing to do with Fred T. It is about Duncan Hunter’s support of Israel, so no call for his pit bulls to complain about their poor little candidate here.

>>>>>>Your candidate is weak on many issues ...

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have a candidate, yet.

If FredT decides to run, then we'll see how his brand of conservatism stands up to close scrunity. Right now, tearing down FredT doesn't help Hunter's campaign. That is my point.

You’re speaking the truth, but anybody that doesn’t support Fred is trashing him. Pot/black.

I know. My original post was directed at the statement that its a foregone conclusion Hunter will be elected. Right now Hunter has no chance of winning the nomination. Period.

Everything else was a reaction to posts attacking me with asinine replies for daring to speak to the truth.

You guys look like fools.

Who's the fool who said Reagan "doesn't have a chance" more than once?

Your Hunter score is higher than mine. I am not sold on NCLB, and favor background checks for gun purchases.

Conservatives need to stop tearing down other Conservatives, no matter what their name is.. We have real opponents (Dems and Ron Paul) to face, save the attacks for them.. Hunter, Thompson, Brownback, heck, I would say even Romney (ducking the slingshots on that one) are all good people.. Remember who has the mentality that will destroy this country by handing it over to the enemy..

Then you won't mind removing your tagline then will you? Ron Paul has the most Conservative voting record of anyone running and more conservative than Fred that's for certain. Even though he does not agree with Bush on Iraq he is still far more conservative than Bush by miles.
