Hunter: 'Postage stamp' Israel should not give up 'one inch' of territory

WASHINGTON — A contender for the Republican presidential nomination has ruled out an Israeli withdrawal as part of any peace accord with the Arabs. Rep. Duncan Hunter, one of 10 Republicans vying for their party's 2008 presidential nomination, said Israel must not withdraw from "one inch" of territory as part of an Arab peace accord. Hunter, the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, termed Israel a "postage stamp of a country" that could not afford to cede territory.

On May 20, Hunter, a California Republican, voiced his position during a meeting with Christian Zionists in Alexandria, Va. He recalled his visit to the Golan Heights, the scene of intense armored battles with Syria during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Middle East Newsline reported.

During his trip, Hunter and his father were taken to a narrow valley in which a handful of Israeli main battle tanks blocked more than 1,400 Soviet-built Syrian MBTs during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The House member recalled that at that point he vowed to support Israel's territorial claims.

For years I thought you had a good grasp of politics. Now I see I was wrong about you. You can't control your emotions. Instead, you deal in the trivial, gossip and innuendo. You’re allowing for passion your for Duncan Hunter to get the better of you. You're a whiner!

More juvenile nonsense. I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just fedup with your endless diatribes trashing FredT. He deserves an opportunity to make his case. Lets see how he handles himself on the campaign trail.

Duncan Hunter is a good conservative, but his campaign hasn't made had an impact on the national race. Unless he gets his campaign in gear, he'll be a footnote before the end of the year.

..thanks

I wish that there were an honest comparing and contrasting of candidate's positions, rather than the roadside bombing some of these folks do--it gets old...

Never torn down Cong Hunter. I don’t tear down conservatives.

FredT deserves the same respect.

I sent an e-mail off to Phil Hardy for info on Michigan dates. I also mentioned That the old folks around here would really like a chance to vote for someone like Hunter. Seniors often vote democrat out of fear but the democrats have jumped off a cliff.

My last suggestion was that they not only look at Reagan’s Michigan playbook, the actually use it.
