“Progressive” is a euphemism for communist.
You are right. Progressive is another “code” word for communist. During the early 1950’s (the “red” scare in Hollywood), there was a “progressive” party flourishing in those days.
Absolutly true and historically verifiable.
David Horowitz has an autobiography that is outstanding that explains this very well.
Horowitz, when younger, was the editor of Ramparts and a leader in the new-left. He left when he eventually saw the corruption that led to murder and the excusing of it. He re-thought his entire world view and is now a stauch conservative.
In that book he tells of growing up in the communist movement with his parents who were closet communists in the NY Teachers Union.
When the truth of Stalin's evil was finally faced by the communists themselves, they told David that the new party line was to speak of themselves always as Progressives, instead of liberals since "liberal" was seen as to open to allignment with communism.
They stole the term from earlier, unrealized agraian movements of the midwest.
So, when we read that term we must understand that communists in the US decided in the sixties to begin to use it to hide their true alignment and understand it in that sense.
That's what I've always thought, liberals are liberals, that's bad enough, but now they claim to be "progressive" which, to me, is much worse.
Sounds like she's a liberal to me.
