The White House and the rest of the administration have GOT to keep making the point that the war in Iraq is an essential front in the war on terror, and keep stressing all that is being accomplished with the “surge.” And it might help if they periodically remind the American people that the Iraqi legislature (parliment?) is not doing any worse than our very own morons in Congress when it comes to getting anything done.

I saw a report, can’t remember where though, about a month ago that showed the Iraqi Parliament passed more legislation in the past 6 months than our own congress but it wasn’t the type of legislation that our congress agreed with.

Bush is the anti-Clinton. Clinton held a press conference to claim credit for the sun rising in the morning. Bush tries to be a gentleman and above partisan politics. Unfortunately: Politics is not a gentlemanly business.

Bush needs to take a big calculated risk.

He needs to loudly and specifically say: "The reason we haven't been hit by more 911 type attacks is my policy of confronting the enemy on his home turf in Iraq. If they aren't busy dying in Iraq we will soon be busy dying in America. I know that people are tired of Iraq but people need to ask themselves: 'Am I tired of the security that the war in Iraq is buying us?'"
