MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.

You know I love you babe. Hope you understand what’s going on in this thread but this thread popped up a long time before that other thread you and I were on. I couldn’t resist when the REAL story came out about these two fine boys who so many normally nice conservative males on FreeRepublic DEFENDED!
But they sure as hell attacked ME....heh, see the church lady pic not too far above this post. Poke around, we got ugly lady pics for female posters who dare to suggest that a male should not be willy nilly patting a woman on the butt, much less what these two little perverts were doing and had been doing over and over again.
Gotta defend ourselves, us conservative women, but hand to God, Coop, some of those conservative men live up to every stereotype there is about them.

I did. I think that some guys have to type this stuff to help them feel 'manly' for awhile.
Some of these people really think that for females to be subject to this kind of treatment is perfectly okay, so long as they are “acquainted” with the guys doing it to them.
I'm quite sure they'd feel differently if it was their sister or daughter. But it helps their ego to act all 'caveman' behind the anonymity of a computer monitor.

Yes, it would be for some, depending on personality type. I've always been more the sort to get really ticked off and react from that, but of course, not everyone is that way.
Seems to me they did the right thing and those boys got caught.
True, if one is not of a personality type to kick 'em in the tool box, going to the authorities is the best option. No one should have to put up with this kind of crap.

I get it...I think. It’s the same old story of folks jumping to conclusions about an issue based on their own, deep-seated biases (listed in my last rant). And people here are attacking YOU personally - I read what that guy said about you. He had NOTHING of merit or worth to say so he used a nasty, tired, old slur. He’s intellectually lazy. But, after what you’ve discovered about this case, he certainly owes you an apology.
Wait, even if you hadn’t found out the defense was lying...he STILL owes you an apology.

Anyway, I don't want apologies. Yeah, I'm calling for them but I know they won't come. In fact, as you can see, my update with that little TRUTH factoid only made them worse.
Two things here 1)I am a True Crime buff and anytime you see a defense attorney as a source for a newspaper article, know that you are being slanted. The original article, as posted, was posted correctly and a reader could logically deduce that a couple of geeky boys innocently ran down the hall with their hands out and a few female butts got in the way of their hands. So I'll not fault a reader for interpreting it as reported, although the original reportage was a lie. Thus the original arguments was that this was but teenage horseplay and should be dismissed.
The prosecutor on this case, understand, is going after sex offender charges on these two boys and hey, after Nifong I tend to be a shade skeptical about out-of-control prosecutors.
In this case, those two boys, who were ugly as all get out, at least one I saw on Fox and Friends guesting to spread the same damn lies. Hey, if this were a female we'd sure be hearing about her looks so let the record show that one of the boys doing this dry-humping and breast grabbing was a buck-toothed fat twerp that would probably never get a date, much less a "feel" without resorting to this very bad behavior.
But I thought even when it was believed that this was naught but a butt-grabbing incident that this behavior should not be excused. Many posters thought it was okay, many didn't. Fine. At the time I thought the prosecutor's reaction seemed extreme what with these two cute boys only softly touching a tush or two.
But these boys have been terrorizing girls in the hallway and got at least FIVE warniings, so the police report shows. I mean, how many warnings does it take to make these two stop their uninvited dry humping and grabbing of girls' breasts?
Alas, even as I posted the TRUTH some of the males on this thread just won't let go. I'm going to be optimistic and state that had this story been posted TRUTHFULLY...most of the posters wouldn't have defended those boys.
That being said, whatever the case, they still attacked ME.

I don’t get it either, Fish. Well, that’s not entirely true. I think that some feel like the internet is their dumping ground for their frustrations: when the real world won’t listen, or they’re too cowardly to speak out in real life.
We all have to pick our battles. Part of me wants to go OFF on these guys, but then I realize that doing so just encourages more crap. Stooping to name calling and insulting photos is what kids in jr high do on MySpace. Hmmmm, maybe that’s what we’re dealing with here. ;)

A Yamhill County judge dismissed all the sex abuse charges Friday against two Patton Middle School boys accused of repeatedly slapping girls on the buttocks in a school hallway and with touching two of them on the breast.
The move was a partial though important victory for the boys, Ryan Cornelison and Cory Mashburn, both 13, who still face misdemeanor harassment charges but are no longer at risk of lifetime registration as sex offenders.
They should not be punished at all.
Silly behavior that does not harm anyone does not deserve punishment.
And advocating punishment at all makes you almost as bad.
Let go. Get over it.
I was made fun of a lot in school. I had some embarassing things happen. But unlike you I grew up and stopped whining.
This idiot and all the people that think the boys should be punished at all have just petitioned the NFL to have Rex Grossman arrested because he patted Greg Olsen on the butt after he made his first catch.
