MCMINNVILLE, Ore., July 22 (UPI) -- Two 13-year-old Oregon boys are facing serious sex charges for allegedly slapping female classmates' bottoms as a form of horseplay.
Police arrested Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison of McMinnville and if convicted could be permanently marked as sex offenders, The Portland Oregonian said Sunday. The teens also could spend as long as 10 years in juvenile detention if found guilty.
While the boys' parents have opposed such a harsh penalty, McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry said such youthful acts could have longstanding consequences for the alleged victims.
"These cases are devastating to children," he said. "They are life-altering cases."
Interviews with the boys' fellow students found other teens were engaging in similar behavior at the time and two of the female victims have since recanted their statements.
The Oregonian said the boys are due in court on Aug. 20 to answer to all charges stemming from the February event.
We used to call that grab a**
REad more about it on Dennis Prager’s blog—also see video of the 13 year old boys accused of a sex crime:

Dennis Prager talking about this on his show right now. He mentioned about setting up a fund for the kids parents. They are being hurt financially by this.
What kind of life gets altered by a butt slap?
Which? Getting your butt slapped or being arrested as a sex offender?
Had the boys been gay, the school would have funded a club for them.
‘”These cases are devastating to children,” he said. “They are life-altering cases.”’
Oh, puh-leese. These are adolescent males and most likely just need a stern talking to about the proper way to interact with the newly-interesting to them opposite gender. By this standard I’d probably have been labelled a sex offender for some of the stupid, juvenile things I did at that age.
They shoulda known better. Hang ‘em high.

I read elsewhere that complaints have been already been filed for prosecutorial misconduct.
The anti-male bashing crowd has completely taken over. I say unto the judge, the prosecutor and every one involved in the justice system that is ruining these kids lives, he who is without sin, cast the first stone. Because I can guarantee you that the majority of guys and girls have been guilty of playing grab-ass at sometime in their lives. This is pathetic and the prosecutor deserves a bullet.
Jeesh! Back when I was in high school the only thing we would get is permanently marked by the football coach/vice principal.
I think that McMinnville District Aattorney Bradley Berry got slapped around a bit when he was in school.
Prager comparing prosecutor to Nifong.
Brad buddy... You are in the real world now. You don't have to bow down to the feminist overlords who rule college campuses.
Don’t tell me Mike Nifong is working under an AKA.
This is absolutely absurd and this dipswitch needs to be Nifonged.
Yep. We did too.
We would run around school popping the girls on the rear.
Some would turn around and chase us and beat the crap out of us.
Some of the more timid ones would tell the teacher and the teacher would whack us with a yard stick and make us apologize.
And that was the end of it.
Those girls are pushing 40 now and I doubt they even remember it. I doubt their lives have been ruined. I doubt they are still in therapy because of it.
“These cases are devastating to children,” he said. “They are life-altering cases.”
This guy sounds like he’s lost his fragile grip on reality.
Exactly my thoughts. I hardly think the girls will be scarred for life, but those poor boys most likely will. Kids horseplay all the time. They’re making a big deal out of NOTHING! I feel for those poor kids.
