If anyone in this scenerio needs a security guard, it is the unborn who are the most defenceless and vulnerable victims of abortion that truly do need security guards to protect them.

I arrived at Family Planning Associates about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7. The security guard, a new one, approached and commanded, “Sir, I need you to move your stuff off the grass!” I wasn’t quite sure what to say because usually someone else takes care of troublesome guards. I must have sounded rather stupid but I responded, “No, no it’s okay.” He retorted, “Sir, please move your stuff on to the sidewalk.” “No, really it’s okay, we always do this,” I reassured him as I showed him the property line and explained that the police are aware of our presence. He frustratingly said “Sir!” as he looked at me then turned and walked away. Most security guards are assertive only until you return the favor.

When I first get there I usually take care of the driveway while sidewalk counselor Luis Mendoza sets up the missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. During this time I was able to briefly speak with one couple, who accepted information. I also talked with a woman who was driving a girl to the abortion center. When I gave her a pamphlet she pointed to the long line of men waiting outside of the plasma clinic and jokingly said, “Is that why all those men are standing out there? Are they waiting to get an abortion?” and then she dropped off a teenage girl.

There were three sidewalk counselors and fourteen prayer worriers present throughout the morning, including Dr. George Delgado of COLFS with his wife and four children.

Later, at my usual post at the corner, I spoke with a couple and showed them our life-sized set of 7- to 10-week fetal models. The young woman was pulling her boyfriend around looking at our displays and I was able to give them a pamphlet and told them about COLFS and Dr. Delgado. I informed them about the abortionist’s probation record from the medical board. They did not seem too concerned about it and went in.

I approached a man coming out of the mill and also told him about the abortionist’s medical record and tried to give him a pamphlet highlighting the malpractice and probation incidents in his career. He brushed me off saying, “Why don’t you go up and give it to the doctor?”

Seems like another example of 'post abortive' syndrome on the part of the woman.

With pit bulls it could have been a lot worse. Truly, Our Lady of Guadalupe was working overtime that day. May Our Lady of Guadalupe continue to pray for an end to all abortion, and to protect all the heroic and courageous prayer warriors that faithfully, humbily and patiently answer her call to protect the right to life for all unborn baby children at Family Planning Associates and where ever else the lives of the precious and defenceless unborn baby children are being terminated through abortion. A special thanks to sidewalk counselor Luiz Mendoza for setting up the missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. May Our Lady Guadalupe give Luiz many special graces and blessings for always thinking about her.

Anyone who wants to experience the Culture War firsthand should do a couple of hours at a prayer vigil in front of one of these places. You get a real sense of where so many of our fellow citizens are coming from . . . and, quite often, of what shaped their values.
