LAGUNA NIGUEL, California — Al Gore's son faces up to three years in prison if convicted on felony drug-possession charges and lesser offenses related to July 4 traffic stop in Orange County where he was found with 140 Vicodin pills, according to a report from the People.com Web site.

Al Gore III, 24, faces two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said in a statement. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for allegedly driving faster than 100 mph.

Gore is free on $20,000 bail and scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 1 in Superior Court in Laguna Niguel. Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to a maximum of three years and eight months in prison if convicted on all counts.

In addition to Vicodin, officers found Xanax, Valium, Soma, and Adderall as well as a small amount of marijuana. A source tells People.com that police discovered 140 Vicodin pills on the former vice president's son as well as dozens of others.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Gore may eligible to bypass incarceration for drug diversion program if found guilty, People.com reported.

I swear on my Grandmothers grave that I get no joy from reading about this.

I despise Algore for his well orchestrated plan to pull the wool over the eyes of soccer moms and the retarded liberal Hollywood elite, with the help of the MSM, to convince idiots that if they don't get with the environmental wacko program they will get blown up in a great burning ball of fire.

Nobody would give a crap about the Rain Forest otherwise. But this is bad news. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I'm just the messenger.

I’m sure the media will treat this story with the same gusto as they treated Rush’s run-in with prescription medication.

Not.

Let’s see if DU demands he go to prison as they did for Rush.

Me, whether or not drugs are legal, I don’t think people should go to prison if they are not a threat to others. There are other ways to punish people.

If algore was my old man, I’d be taking painkillers and antidepressants too.

That is so true. Rush has given advice to Algore III just as a fellow human being. Don’t let the word out. It would ruin his well crafted reputation as an uncaring right wing capitalist pig. :-)

Driving 100 mph was a threat to other people. If he was driving 100 mph while on drugs, he was a threat to other people.

Though it is reported one way here I have simple questions to be clarified that I am sure the police are looking into.

#1 Maybe he had no prescription bottle for these pills on him, but does he have a prescription elsewhere related to these pills?

#2 If not, who gave these pills to this guy?

#3 No excuse for driving under the influence.

Obviously we won’t have to worry about him running for office in the future.

Its sad to see a young man with so much to live for reduced to this sort of self destruction. I genuinely feel very sorry for him. Living in the spot light with those two idiots for parents must be hell.

I don’t care if he fries his brain on all this stuff. Sad, but he must be responsible for himself.

I do have major problem with him getting tanked and driving a lethal weapon at a speed that could easily kill an entire family of innocent people. Kill yourself if you must, but you are not allowed to take others with you. If he continues to do it, he should be locked up.

I’m sorry for his parents. I imagine they love him and want to help him. Enabling him is not helping him. Allowing him to endanger others is not helping him. Perhaps it would have been wiser to not bail him out. Staying in jail until his trial might have sent him a more substantial message.

Do you believe that being drugged-up and driving at over 100 mph is a threat to others?

He is a democrat ... this was his first badge of honor that will surely get him elected to public office.

WOW 140 pills!

That is a lot of dope for one junkie. I am surprised that he isn’t being charged with intent to sell.

But he would have missed his sister's wedding!
