Despite millennia of persecution, the Jews are still with us. God promised us (in his Holy Word) that the Jews will be with us always. The very fact that the Jews still exist affirms the existence of God, and this just kills the left. IMHO.

I agree with you 100%! They hate it because it convicts them of their sin! As long as they can see Israel, it's like God is watching them! IF Israel is destroyed, they 'think' He won't know what evil deeds they do.

When it comes to the subject of terrorism and Israel, most liberal Jews are in a political quandary. ....and a particularly painful one at that. It's finally become obvious to them - and it's about damn time - that Republicans are far better friends to Israel than are their beloved Democrats, and that the GOP is better suited tempermentally to fight the war on Islamism. ....two major points.

That's hard enough for them to swallow. But what's infinitely worse is the realization that the Left has been cozying up to some of the most anti-Semitic scum on the face of the earth. So there's some serious cognitive dissonance in many a leftist Jew, and it's gotten worse since 9/11.

Easy.

#1) Most (non-religious) Jews are liberal on social issues, and the Donkey party is obviously their natural home.

#2) "Tradition" (in my best Fiddler on the Roof voice). Jews have traditionally voted Democrat since the FDR era, most likely because of the perception that he and his party were for "the little guy" ...a perception that didn't quite square with reality, as I'm sure you're aware. Plus it's seared in their minds that FDR/Dems defeated Hitler, the incarnation of evil. ...and that's a powerful spell to break. Traditional voting patterns are very tough to break. Heck, some southern conservatives still vote Democrat.

My (Bronx-born) dad was the first in our family to break with tradition -- he voted for Ike in '56, and hasn't looked back.

They hate Jews because Jews are self-contained, extremely exclusive and can't be infiltrated, plus they prove themselves superior to any other sub-sect of world population in every discipline of science, medicine, finance, etc.

Why the Jews side with the Left is a bewilderment to me. Possibly because the left detests and resists war, and Jews have always been the targets of war?

*IF* (and that's a mighty big if), Israel is destroyed, they feel (I use *that* term, as they are obviously incapable of anything remotely resembling a true "thought process") that they will have proved Nietzche correct (God is dead...)

While the fringe right may believe that the Jews control the world's banks, the left fears that Christian conservatives control the Republican Party, which right now controls the Presidency and maintains a small majority in both houses of Congress.

The author seems correct on many points. Too bad control of Congress wasn't one of them. This commentary is dated as July 21, 2007. I checked. IMHO, the left seems riddled with self hating Jews who comprise a disproportionate amount of the left's leadership.

Why Does the Left Hate the Second Amendment? They lost common sense. They don't study history, much less pay attention to the news. They are obsessed with utopian, delusional visions of human nature. It's too bad that JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP seems to be more the exception than the rule.
