Reid: Pull Troops or We Won’t Pay Them
TownHall.com ^ | 20 July 2007 | Amanda Carpenter

Posted on 07/21/2007 7:57:46 AM PDT by txradioguy

If Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t start pulling troops out of Iraq, he doesn’t want to start paying them any more either.

After an amendment to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq within 120 days failed to receive the 60 votes needed to proceed, Reid set the entire defense authorization bill aside. By doing so, he shelved a 3.5 percent pay raise for all uniformed service personnel, $4 billion in equipment upgrades and a new program to treat traumatic brain injuries.

To increase pressure on Republicans to support the measure, sponsored by Sen. Carl Levin (D.-Mich.) and Sen. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.), Reid threw the Senate into an all night session on Tuesday evening that lasted through Wednesday morning. Levin-Reid fell eight votes short, 52-47.

“There are two things that I want to accomplish,” Reid told reporters immediately after the amendment vote. “One is to pass a defense authorization bill, but with a deadline dealing with Iraq. Once we put that together, we'll move forward on it.”

Lord help us! It's a nightmare. Abandon our troops, snatch defeat from victory. How can people be so stupid to support these rats?

You have that right - Reality is every member of FR that sincerely supports our warriors, they need to keep the intensity on D.C. 5 Days a week. Make a phone call, send off several emails.....Each contact to D.C. does matter, it can make a difference.

Our base owes it to our warriors down range to protect their flanks from this DEM Congress (and MSM). Keep the intensity. Tell D.C. representatives to stand firm behind our CinC and our mission in Iraq.

Keep the intensity. Here is a link to all contact info -

Reid is VILE, VENIAL and EVIL.

Ever notice that VILE and EVIL are made up of the same letters?

Here it is. Below are just a couple tidbits.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8KMJ8I00&show_article=1A

_The deal began in 1998 when Reid bought undeveloped residential property on Las Vegas’ booming outskirts for about $400,000. Reid bought one lot outright, and a second parcel jointly with Brown. One of the sellers was a developer who was benefiting from a government land swap that Reid supported. The seller never talked to Reid.

_In 2001, Reid sold the land for the same price to a limited liability corporation created by Brown. The senator didn’t disclose the sale on his annual public ethics report or tell Congress he had any stake in Brown’s company. He continued to report to Congress that he personally owned the land.

_After getting local officials to rezone the property for a shopping center, Brown’s company sold the land in 2004 to other developers and Reid took $1.1 million of the proceeds, nearly tripling the senator’s investment. Reid reported it to Congress as a personal land sale.

If the Republicans can’t use this issue to show the American People how evil the Democrats are...

It's going to have to be a case of brinksmanship. Like Clinton used the government shutdown against the Pubs, there must be an actual cutoff of funds to the troops to prove the point.

“Lord help us!

Because the people who support these rats are stupid themselves.

Then give them show back.

Absolutely!

They keep handing us these GIANT opportunities to show them up for the traitorous commies they are, and we sit at our computers and cluck-cluck.

Let's ROLL

Oh, the wonderful Senate............

Vote themselves huge raises, hold off on an increase for those defending the freedom of America.

They are despicable.

Senators vote themselves salary increases-take away an increase for our soldiers.

Salary increase for destroying our military, no salary increase for the soldier willing to give his life for this country.

Congress gets a salary increase - none for the soldiers willing to give their lives for this country.

This ought to be enough to ruin the democrats for good.

Well, I am beginning to pray really hard that God Himself begins to remove Harry Reid from authority.

Absolutely.

But he's not up for reelection for years.

We can't sit and wait for that.

WE have to make ourselves heard TODAY.

get that list and start emailing - TODAY

I just sent my Senator's email.

I am picking up a weapon and I am standing a post for my Troops.

I believe that the pen is mightier then the sword and my keyboard is a M203 grenade launcher. I am going to go send Reid an email now.

ATAAAAACK!!!!

The dems don’t care about the troops as evidenced by

- no salary increase for those willing to die for this country, yet they vote themselves increases continually.

- leaking national security secrets which help the enemy

- promoting no defense against those that intend to come here and kill us.

There is no way the dems ever care about anything other than corruption, taxes, and their belief that they are the elite of this country picked to lead.

Here’s a great article from Michelle Malkin on dirty Harry.

http://michellemalkin.com/2006/10/13/pounding-dirty-harry-reid/

“…Rory Reid, Harry’s son and a lawyer/lobbyist who worked for Nevada’s largest legal firm. Lionel Sawyer & Collins represented more than a few clients whose business became Harry Reid’s Senate business, but that isn’t news. In fact, his other three sons also worked for the same firm and did some lobbying as well. Rory, however, is a special case. Rory got himself elected to the Clark County Board of Commissioners in November 2002, which makes zoning decisions for Las Vegas and its environs.

Why is this important? It was a zoning change that allowed Reid and his partners to sell their parcels in 2004 to developers after being allowed to build a shopping complex on the land. So far, the exact timing of that zoning change has not yet come to light, but the coincidence looks very suspicious.”

Hey, txradioguy,
This dingbat Reid may be doing you and the rest of us a favor. The headline is a little misleading because it’s the pay-raise that he’s talking about holding at knifepoint, not the rest of your paycheck. Not getting the 3.5% is insulting, but I think in the end it may turn more people off on the Rats in the end. Then maybe we can get you guys back on track with not only decent raises, but some real damn support from congress. You guys are worth your weight in gold. More.

I’ll do my part to get you some non-enemy legislators.
