So how much should the “greedy” farmer pay his labor?? $20/hr? $40/hr or $100/hr before he is no longer a dirty stinking greedy capitalist in your book??

Now after you bankrupt all those dirty farmers, who you going to get to raise your crops?? Rush Limbaugh? Laura Ingrahrm or FReepers, since they know everything there is about farming and everything else for that matter.

Yeah Central Planning would work great if it were only run by “conservatives”.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Are you disputing that greed isn't behind a significant percentage of employers who rely on the illegal workforce to "do the jobs American's won't do"? How on earth did these jobs manage to get done before all the hardworking Mexicans arrived to save the day?

I have personally known meat packers who gladly worked in plants have their jobs taken away and given to illegal workers because the employer could pay them less. What would you call that? I would call it greed and lawlessness and just plain wrong.

I know that we have historically had migrant farmworkers and I am not opposed to legal, controlled immigration. I am outraged, however, by the invasion of our country and by the way it is destroying our culture. For what? For cheap labor. So, taxpayers foot the bill for educating their children, public entitlements for their families, health care costs that have destroyed ERs nationwide, lawlessness, instate tuition for THEM but not my children... and the list goes on. Just about every aspect of our society has suffered because of this uncontrolled influx of foreigners and their "demands" for their "rights."

Do these poor people deserve better than they have in Mexico? Absolutely. But, the solution to their problem lies in making their own country better - not in destroying ours. By all means, send them aid and a helping hand - but to allow an uncontrolled invasion of our country for any reason is irresponsible in the extreme.

Dear bray, (interesting name btw)

You are jumping into extreme exaggerations and ignoring some posts to you. (See my post to you at #364.)

Now after you bankrupt all those dirty farmers, who you going to get to raise your crops??

You have made a few huge assumptions. One, all those farmers will be bankrupted. Two, allowing the free hand of legal enterprise control the market (allowing farms which produce produce at below production cost to go bankrupt) is bad. Three, the cost of cheap vegetables is more important then the cost of secure borders.

You have insinuated that this is hate driven, but I for one, do not waste my time in hating illegal immigrants. Nor do I believe many of the posters here do either. If there is any 'hate' in my beliefs it is reserved for those elected officials who fail to uphold the Constitution for which they took an oath to do.

According to the Constitution, Congress, the states, and the president are responsible for protecting us. In Article 1, Section 8, Congress has the power to “establish a uniform rule of naturalization … to provide for the calling of the militia to execute the laws of the union … and repel invasions.”

In Article 1 Section 10, “no state shall, without consent of Congress … engage in war, unless actually invaded.” In Article 2, Section 2, the President “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

What laws would that include Mr. President? How about Article 4, Section 4? “The United States … shall protect each of them (states) against invasion; and … against domestic violence.”

There are enough statistics that show that many illegals are raising the level of domestic violence in America, but the President, and you apparently, think that the Constitution needs a revamp because following it now would be too costly to tomato growers.

As a former member of the Armed Forces I say Blahhhh! I took an oath to defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. Now how can you expect any member of the Armed Forces to defend the Constitution when our own elected leaders wish to disregard it?

You post "pray for our troops and W" and that is good, but you need to fully realize that your stance on illegal immigration and the Presidents stance on the Constitution runs contrary to supporting what the troops took an oath to do. In the end, your support for the troops is undermined by your support of ignoring the law breakers and ignoring the Constitutional duties of our elected officials.

Sincerely
