NEW YORK — Federal investigators are examining what appears to be an inoperative military rocket launcher tube found Friday morning on the front lawn of a Jersey City home that sits directly in the flight path of busy Newark Liberty International Airport.
Jersey City Police removed the tube, and the incident is now being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The New York office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms told FOX News that it appeared to be a military firing tube, and that there was no evidence of any explosive device discovered at the scene.
The Associated Press reported that the tube was an inoperable military training device, and that it was given to Army officials at Fort Monmouth.

TAMPA, Fla. — A Patriot missile with its guidance system and rocket motor was found in a Tampa scrap metal yard, according to authorities. Explosives experts at MacDill Air Force Base were called to the scrap yard on July 11 to identify an odd-looking object in a heap of junk.
The experts said the object was a surface-to-air missile, minus its warhead — so it’s harmless.
They say it appeared to be a training model, and still had its rocket motor and guidance system.

As I recall, didn’t/don’t surplus stores sell this used junk, at least via mail-order?
I have a 75mm wooden practice shell in my den (ca.1945), I picked up years ago.
The lack of reading ability is almost humerus. Some of the comments really brake me up. Think I’ll cast around for sum more pour examples of R.I.F. gradients..
If a Democrat was president, the news media would gush over the great intelligence and police work that’s involved in stopping these guys before they strike again.
Since a Republican is president, they can complain about why Bush didn’t discover this rocket launcher sooner and wonder about whether we are connecting the dots...........
an ‘inoperable training device’? I wonder. I remember firing LAW missiles in basic.. The tubes were real, but they would use a training missile.
