Lynchburg, VA - The rain did a number on the Cindy Sheehan rally in Lynchburg. Sheehan, the controversial anti-war protester, will be in DC on Monday. She says if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn't move to impeach President Bush she'll run for Pelosi's office.
Her visit to Lynchburg drew passion, both against and for the war, before the skies opened up. Sheehan, along with other activists, marched from Monument Terrace, a memorial to service members. Since her son died in 2004, Sheehan has called on the withdrawal of troops. She spoke to us live after her arrival.
Cindy Sheehan, Anti-War Protester - "I think us being there is a disaster to the Iraqi people, the Iraqi people want us to leave."
But Sheehan's opponents, mothers, wives, fathers, husbands of soldiers, say their soldiers are doing good.
Angela Shupe, Husband in Iraq - "When the little Iraqi boy comes up to him and shakes his hand and hugs his leg, when the men shake their hands and say, 'Thank you for being here,' and they're doing good and building back the city, then I think we still need to be there until we finish what we started."
They say Sheehan doesn't support the troops, she disgraces them.
Angita Czlesta, Mother of Soldier - "I bleed red, white and blue. And if she does not love this country, I would be happy to buy her a one-way ticket out of here."
Just as Cindy Sheehan took the stage, the rain came. But she made her call clear.
Sheehan - "Impeach George Bush, impeach George Bush."
One that her supporters answered.
Dan Meekins, Sheehan Supporter - "I'm pro-peace and I want peace so our soldiers can come back and peace for the Iraqi people."
A cause that Sheehan opponents want too, but say can't be done without our troops. One thing Sheehan mentioned on our air at 6:00 -- the death toll for Iraqi civilians. She put it at 700,000.
A fact check now. Turns out, there's a huge discrepancy on those deaths, depending on whom you ask. For instance, in December of 2005, President Bush said there were about 30,000 deaths at that time.
But in October of last year, American and Iraqi researchers, some from John's Hopkins University, reported 655,000 deaths from violence, disease, and other causes resulting from the war.

Thanks to all the military families, friends and everyday folks for going out to counter Cindy Sheehan and the Hate America/Surrender crowd.
Next stop on the I'm Cindy Sheehan, and it's all about me! Media Whore Tour:
Charlottesville, VA today, 6pm
WHERE: Outside, on the west end of the Downtown Mall, in front of the Charlottesville Ice Park, in Charlottesville, Va.
RAIN LOCATION: In case of hard rain, the event will be held at the Albemarle County Office Building at 401 McIntire Rd.
Typical brain-dead lib.
Bump for later.
We left Vietnam but that didn't stop the killing, nor did the Democrats cutting off aid and stabbing the South Vietnamese in the back.
The communists killed hundreds of thousands directly, as many indirectly when they fled by boat and died from murder by pirates, strvation, thirst or drowning. For every "boat person" you meet, one died trying to escape.
Like the 60's, the anti-American left is only asking one side to stop. And when we did and the otherside kept killing, like Pol Pot did with Hanoi's OK, the left was silent.
hee hee hee! What a show that would be!
She says if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn't move to impeach President Bush she'll run for Pelosi's office. The issue will be kind of moot in the 2008 election, won't it?
Never mind. I know. Leftists. No common sense intended or implied.
My name is George Samek, recruitor for the Gathering of Eagles. I had the great honor of leading my fellow Eagles at Byrant Park Charlotte NC on July 17.
Cindy Sheehan, despite the presents of 14 armed Charlotte Police Officer refused to join her supporters & drove away leaving them to face very verbal uncaged Eagles.
I am pround to say we made Cindy turn tail & run, she is a moral & physical coward.
It was my great honor to stand with Free Republic at Walter Reed Hospital on June 29, with Kristinn Taylor & the great group he assembled at the gates.
The visit with the wounded after the rally was very special to me as a Vietman Vet.
May God bless you fine people at free Republic
