NASHVILLE, Tenn. - President Bush sharply challenged critics of his stalled immigration-overhaul efforts on Thursday, suggesting that failure to pass a guest-worker program could trigger a labor shortage in the United States.
At a town-hall style meeting, Bush also rebuffed a question about whether he would consider pardoning two Border Patrol agents in prison for the cover-up of the shooting of a drug trafficker in Texas.
"No, I won't make you that promise," Bush told a woman who asked about a possible pardon. Many Republicans in Congress have said the men should not have been convicted and have criticized the federal U.S. attorney for even prosecuting the agents.
"I know it's an emotional issue but people need to look at the facts. These men were convicted by a jury of their peers after listening to the facts" as presented by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, said Bush. Bush called Sutton a friend.

Are all those BP agents in handcuffs in that pic with George?
FIRE MARTINEZ.
;0)
Actually I'm not Hispanic...I'm French, English, German and some other things thrown in for good measure. I've never even visited Mexico.
LOL! Good one! If they weren’t in that pic you can be sure they’re dodging them now. LOL!
Add CHERTOFF to the “To Be FIRED” list.
Someone needs to photoshop the pic, put on the cuffs, and add the caption to Pres Bush, “See - I’ve got the immigration prollem under control.”
Two for two! : )
So I take it then Jorge is just your handle name and not your real one, and it’s just a coincidence that with your handle name being Jorge that you probably were for the Senate Amnesty Bill that just went down to defeat?
Too bad Lindsey can’t be heaped upon the to-be-fired list - but we can all say, “SHUT UP LINDSEY GRAHAM, you BIGOT!”
hehehe
Oh, when he said that......he was just “spreading the love”
Didn’t you feel it?
How many people's screen names do you know that are their REAL names?
That bill was changed so many times and loaded with so many amendments that I don't know how anyone could possibly know if they were for it or against it anymore.
I wrote the rascal voicing my displeasure with his comment and you know the SorryOldBoy had the gall to say he didn’t have time to reply to those not of his constituency - but he found the time to offend us by appearing at a La Raza assembly.
He’s a real lying, sniveling eunuch.
Perhaps instead of defending Bush, you should do some thinking about what his policies REALLY entail.
1) Helping prop up a corrupt and inefficient government in Mexico run by a small ruling class of elitist Euro-Mexican plutocrats, by funneling American dollars down there via Mexican economic refugees.
2) Insulting the dignity of many naturalized Americans including a great number of Hispanic Americans who did it right, paid their dues, waited their turn and came here legally.
3) Is obviously promoting a Rent-a-Slave program for large corporate interests in America under the transparent euphemism of “Guest Worker Program”. If he REALLY cared about “immigrants” who wanted to come here legally and BECOME AMERICANS instead merely serving as temporary serfs for his corporate buddies, he would work towards raising the quotas for LEGAL immigrants and expediting and improving the process for naturalizing them.
I know just where your namesake stands on Hispanics and if he knows Spanish, its only in order to communicate with the hired help and serfs he wants to bring in here.
He is a flawed man in a flawed Presidency presiding over the collapse of his party and the American Republic. If that fanatic Nancy Pelosi wasn’t next in line in the succession after Cheney, I would support his impeachment or abdication.
You’re being much too kind. He’s a traitor and should be tarred and feathered.
You guess wrong.
I am mostly French, English, some German etc etc.
Not A DROP of Hispanic blood.
I've never even visited Mexico.
This assumption is as misguided and wrong as the rest of your post.
HAHA! The apologies to anyone, everyone, and their great grandparents was enough to attempt carrying out Lying Lott’s promise to shut the place down.
