NASHVILLE, Tenn. - President Bush sharply challenged critics of his stalled immigration-overhaul efforts on Thursday, suggesting that failure to pass a guest-worker program could trigger a labor shortage in the United States.
At a town-hall style meeting, Bush also rebuffed a question about whether he would consider pardoning two Border Patrol agents in prison for the cover-up of the shooting of a drug trafficker in Texas.
"No, I won't make you that promise," Bush told a woman who asked about a possible pardon. Many Republicans in Congress have said the men should not have been convicted and have criticized the federal U.S. attorney for even prosecuting the agents.
"I know it's an emotional issue but people need to look at the facts. These men were convicted by a jury of their peers after listening to the facts" as presented by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, said Bush. Bush called Sutton a friend.

You’re the one who’s blind and can’t see.
Pray the scales fall off your eyes.
You don’t?
Right. Bush is a LIAR!
Is it Memorex or is it DU?
Of course I don’t believe it. It’s absurd and irresponsible.
Bush has done what to enforce the existing immigration laws?
Eleven to twelve million illegal immigrants currently reside in the United States thanks to this Administration's failure to secure our borders. The Bush Administration has refused to enforce the laws we have on the books and clearly did not make border security or immigration reform a priority until an election year. Last year, President Bush chose to only fund 210 extra Border Patrol agents after Congress authorized an additional 10,000 agents over five years. In addition, audits of employers who use illegals has declined from 8,000 under the Clinton Administration to 2,200 in 2003. In 2004, only THREE employers were fined for hiring illegal labor. This was down from 1999, when 417 businesses were fined. This failure is inexcusable.
...While the Bush Administration has neglected its duties, states and local government have borne the costs of cracking down on illegal immigration. This year, the President even proposed eliminating the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) which helps overburdened local municipalities deal with the costs of incarcerating illegals who commit crimes.
I can just picture you preaching on a subway platform in New York..dressed in black with clenched fists and ashen skin. LOL
Here is the hate you’ve spewed at me in the last few posts:
silly
delusional
absurb
irresponsible
DU
Memorex? (I have no idea what you are talking about.)
I only mention it because you are on such a roll about everyone else being hateful, lol.
How should I know?
If you call speaking the truth preaching, then I’ll be PREACHING the rest of my life.
He really crapped his hat full with the "See you at the signing" remark meant as a rib-jab to every American opposed to his STEALTH-AMNESTY.
His remark was meant as a slap at Conservatives who've lowered their opinions of the President and I believe that it was deliberate because Bush is not so stupid he can't fathom US public opposition. He was very vengeful in his comment and he's not attempted anything close to reconciliation but keeps his head stuck in the dirt and has become even more defiant on this issue.
That explains a lot. If it's 'invincible ignorance' it means you shouldn't waste your time, you're blameless. Wrong, but not accountable.
The Bible says "Love does not keep records of wrongs".
Thou shalt not copy and paste my (bad) quotes ALL in one post. :)
As apparently do 80% of Americans. The 20% who don't likely hire illegals, married illegals, or are harboring illegals....in other words, selfish greed/personal gain trumps FOLLOWING THE RULE OF LAW.
Testify, Jorge. Just tell them about the sign Dubya keeps on his desk:
“The Buck Never Stops Here.”
Exactly right.
I can’t even stand to watch his appearance on TV anymore or listen to his lame excuses for his failed border policies, tag-teaming up with John McCain and Ted Kennedy on amnesty, sucking up to the Mexicans, or making incredible comments about his good friend Sutton.
Any border guard who is defending me against illegal invaders and potential drug dealers and terrorist invaders is worth more than all the Bushes put together.
I’m sick of him. Singlehandedly he destroyed the Republican majority in Congress and is destroying the Republican Party with his obstinacy and obtuseness. Just as his father threw away the legacy of Ronald Reagan, this man threw away the legacy of Newt Gingrich and the hopes of the millions of Americans who put him in office - TWICE - myself included.
NO MORE BUSHES - EVER!!!!!
hehehe
NO MORE BUSHES - EVER!!!!!
BTTT!
