COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- In a study co-authored by an Ohio State professor, whites were asked how much money they'd want if they had to live the rest of their lives as blacks.
The typical answer was about 15-hundred dollars.
Compare that to the one million dollars the same people said they'd need to swear off T-V for the remainder of their lives.
Psychology professor Philip Mazzocco from Ohio State's Mansfield campus says the findings suggest whites aren't bothered by the idea of being black. He says whites may be ignorant of the difficulties many blacks still face because of their skin color.
I’m 1/16th Native American. Nobody I’ve ever worked for has known that. Not because I’m not proud of it, but because I never wanted special treatment. I’ve also never applied for gov’t benefits that I’m eligible for. Using ancestry or race as a crutch to support your status as a “victim” is beyond pathetic.
The question is biased on its face. This so-called scholar simply assumes that his white respondents would want compensation.
But if you look at the question from an economic standpoint, it is unclear that being white is preferable. I would have to think about it some more, but my gut reaction is that my credentials would be worth millions of dollars more were I black. Also that I would have had elite universities and professional schools falling all over me when I was young if my skin were not the color that it is.
Niiiicccceee...
What a waste of time. Did we pay for this study?
Try doing that in the City of Detroit as a white man. I get pulled over by the police in Detroit all the time. D.W.W. - Driving While White.
Whenever the cops in Detroit see a white man - they automatically assume he is either looking for crack or for crack. (drugs or whores). A black cop in Detroit told me I had "no business driving in OUR city."
When I told him that if a white cop said that to a black man in the suburbs the cop would be fired and sued, his reply to me was, " and what's your point?".
My reply to him was, "I think I just made it."
Okay, stupid question time, this post seemed like a good place to bring it up.
I have noticed, at least when I was living in a very diverse neighborhood, the propensity for pedestrians of a certain racial background to make stark eye contact with a motorist and then step off the curb in front of them.
This happened to me multiple times (6 that I can recall offhand)—different people, sometimes on my motorcycle and sometimes in my truck. It was unnerving, and fortunately I am a cautious driver so I never hit anyone. Has anyone else encountered this?

“Ever spoken to a white person hassled because of the color of their skin?”
Ever been in a black neighborhood?
This is especially ludicrous for me since I live in a majority black city where whites are a minority. All the top officials in city government are black - they hold all the power, yet they can't be racists since they "are not in a position of power".
Sometimes I just scratch my head.
Ever been in a turkish prison, Joey?
That’s CRAP! Racism is any policy which excludes anyone for any reason based on race. Set-asides in contracting are by definition racism, yet it’s allowed. It’s bullcrap, but ti’s alloed, because supposedly some races are disadvantaged. That’s bullcrap, too!
That is where I stopped reading this POS
OH brother. What about this one. What GUY wants to be a woman?? Less Pay. Easy to swindle. Looked down upon as maids and cooks. WEll?? Fess up!! I take my car in to get fixed. They take me. I call a handyman to fix my refrig. He takes me. I’m always on guard of being swindled because I’m a woman. I know they pay me less becuase I am! I think I’d rather be a black man than a woman.
Your lucky you didn’t fall down several flights of stairs all on your own in a one-floor police station.

I’ve never been more invisible while waving around a $20 bill than when I stop at a McDonald’s in the inner city part of Milwaukee for a breakfast sandwich. The Black staff and patrons delight in a game of ignoring me and my place in line.
I don’t remember anybody asking me this.
You mean like the one I live in? ;-)
My reply to you is the same to anyone who feels oppressed - you let yourself get in that position! Sorry, but it’s the brutal truth.
I had similar things happen as well.
The really good news is that I’ve quit eating fast food!
it’d take more than that to live like bill j-e-l-l-o.
I don’t feel oppressed. I feel taken advantage of and looked down on becuase i’m a woman. I have to prove myself above a man.
