Subways have just stopped in Manhattan according to MyFoxNY. There is a rumor out among the press coverage that there is also a building collapse.
The weird part of this is that the smoke seems white and light brown, not black like a transformer.
I’m looking at the live feed from a building cam from their website.

Sulphur reported. What do you make of it?

Now they are reporting a pungent sulfur smell in the area, and people getting sick.
To: LurkedLongEnough

The live feed from MyFoxNY.com shows the scene.
Looks like a volcano of mud and steam.

This frame grab video image taken from WABC TV Eyewitness News shows the scene of a suspected steam explosion near Grand Central Station in Manhattan, Wednesday, July 18, 2007. The New York Police Department said a steam pipe exploded, and had no immediate detail on possible injuries. The NYPD said it does not appear to be terrorism-related. You were waaaaayyyy ahead of the curve! News agencies didn’t start reporting on this ‘til 7:00. Job well done by the pajama media!

Just heard Trace Gallagher on Foxnews ask this question to the guy he was interviewing:
"Isn't it a good thing that we have things like this happen from time to time, to test our first responders?"
What a dunderhead!
To: RinaseaofDs
Fox News is now reporting it as a major steam pipe explosion—consistent with the white ‘smoke’ in photos posted here. Evidently it’s really steam, rather than smoke.
