Tampa, Jul 18, 2007 / 10:25 am (CNA).- Dr. Jack Kevorkian is scheduled to speak at the University of Florida Oct. 11 for a $50,000-speaker fee.
"We figure that this will be a great way to engage our student body and entertain," said Steven Blank of ACCENT, the University of Florida student-government funded speaker's bureau.
"We do understand that this will spark controversy. And that is something we have done in the past," Blank told LifeSiteNews.com.
Kevorkian, who is known to have assisted about 130 people to commit suicide, was released from prison earlier this year on "good behavior" after serving only eight years of a 10-to-25-year sentence. He received the sentence for the second-degree murder of Thomas Youk, which he televised. Shortly after being released from prison, the infamous doctor declared his intention to continue advocating for assisted suicide on demand.
When asked whether ACCENT was concerned about giving a public platform to a convicted murderer, Blank said ACCENT was not necessarily advocating Kevorkian's opinions.
"We aren't bringing him in to try to convince people of his views but to engage the student body, and they can choose for themselves," said Blank. He said ACCENT believed adding Kevorkian to the roster of speakers would add a positive "diversity" to the speaker lineup.
However, the brother of Terri Schiavo, Bobby Schindler, is concerned about Kevorkian’s speaking engagement at the university.
"He's targeting our college kids, and I find it very troubling," Schindler told LifeSiteNews. "We're sending this message to our young kids that the answer to human suffering and the chronically ill is to kill, and it's extremely dangerous and troubling."
While in prison, Kevorkian had stated in an interview that he would have killed Terri Schiavo, had her husband asked him.
Schindler, who had worked tirelessly to protect his sister from a painful death by dehydration and starvation, also criticized ACCENT for claiming not to take sides and for presenting the issue for consideration.
"How can that be if they're only getting one side of the issue?” he was quoted as saying. “They're not having someone speaking on compassion, and why assisted suicide is potentially destructive. … I don't see how the students are going to choose if they're only going to hear one side of the argument."
Schindler has launched a petition to stop Kevorkian's appearance at the University of Florida.

I’ve always wondered if perhaps Michael Schiavo is a Scientologist. His strange inscription, “departed this Earth”, regarding the day of Terri’s “accident”, expresses the scientology teaching perfectly. They believe that a person is only a mental or spiritual entity trapped in a shell of a body, and if a person suffers brain damage and is no longer fully conscious, they are basically dead.
There were also some strange connections to Scientology among various individuals in the case, including Judge Greer, IIRC.
Probably..The thing is what idiots like Michael don`t realize is once you classify a person as “dead” based solely on low mental ability, you start on the path of Nazism. I mean who`s next, retarded people, or even those with less mental ability like democrats? Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi have less mental ability than Terri but I don`t see anyone saying they should be starved to death although it would benefit the country greatly.
Seriously though, (wait, I was serious) the whole basis of the court allowing Terri to be starved to death was that she lost all cognitive function and had no hope of gaining it back due to severe cerebral atrophy..BUT, she still had mental activity!
Here in New York, even though it is the liberal armpit of the east coast, nobody can be declared dead if they still have mental activity. Matter of fact, we had a cop here who was shot twice in the head last week and he wasn`t declared dead until all his brain function ceased. THEN they removed the feeding tube, and the respirator. With Terri, she still had mental ability.
When you start “unplugging” people who still have mental ability, that is dangerous territory because in all seriousness, there are people out there right now walking around who if you talked to them are not able to respond such as the elderly, those who have had strokes or ALS patients. DO these people get “unplugged”?? Can you imagine the horror of knowing that you are being starved to death and you can`t respond? How do we know Terri wasn`t aware of this? We just can`t ever know 100% and that is why it should never be done. All religious beliefs aside, she should have been kept alive until her brain function ceased.
We can never judge on who should live and who should die based on brain function alone because we can never truly judge what that brain function is. There are ton of cases where people have literally lost half their brain and STILL regained cognitive function, cases where people have been in comas for 20 plus years and came out if. It`s absolute insanity to judge life and death over perceived brain function.
Michael Schiavo is EVIL INCARNATE.

His chubby bride is a faux Catholic as Terri had to be killed because Jodi could not marry a divorced man but she could marry a man who got his wife killed by corrupt judges, lawyers and not to be forgotten the mainstream media who partook in a torture/murder. Pinellas politicos from both parties luv the sci-fis even though they destroyed downtown Clwtr. Even Jeb luvs the sci-fis. Scientologists believe that only healthy people are worthy of liberty and happiness.
The bronze marker is still at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery, located very close to a pond (the cemetery made an exception for Mikey). It is not as large as it looks on the internet but Mikey’s marble bench that has SCHIAVO carved on the side of the bench is gargantuan. Even in death, Schiavo gave himself a large narcissistc bench but Terri a small marker. I picked weeds there before because for all we know, Mikey told Sylvan Abbey to ignore Terri’s marker. I’m talkin’ serious weeds that I pulled there.
I am for Alberto Gonzalez getting the book thrown at him. He stopped Terri’s coast guard helicopter. Alberto Gonzalez had orders to stop Terri’s rescue. He did so the day after Easter. The Easter Terri bill in DC was a complete sham. Who killed Terri? The question should be, who didn’t?

Terri was in rehab,at the beach and at the mall after the date of Feb. 1990. She was doing well until Mikey cut off all rehab. Pinellas County Judges did conspire to neglect Terri, give the death lawyers her rehab money and then to me she would be killed for Mikey. Terri did many things here after Feb.1990. Even her marker is a LIE. The promise he kept was to Jodi, not to Terri. He promised to bump off Terri for Jodi Centonze,the insurance underwriter...
Quiet night in the vortex. Down the street, people are being euthanized right now and not all have living wills. Down the street, it’s first w/newly introduced drugs, then stopping w/nutrition (Meals, etc), then cutting off hydration but they have lovely fountains at Hostage Woodside. They hate to release their captives to family members once they start their craft. It is not about natural death. Their craft is making death and if they can convince relatives that the captive is failing (it’s the drugs, etc causing appearance of failing health) then they will get to their finish line beating natural death.
The Pinellas County Courthouse contains sicko judges who celebrate their achievement of killing an innocent woman “for the integrity of the court.” They are murderers. Greer is sick & twisted man as are all the judges who helped him kill Terri.
Domestic violence is the #1 cause of deaths and injuries to young women. That is by far the most likely explanation. In this case there is only one suspect. He has no alibi. He was in hysterics, did not attempt CPR, did not even turn Terri's body face-up. He just left her lying there, making "gurgling" noises. Then he lied to the police about what happened.
Could be. Could have been, "I told you I'd kill you if you wasted my money getting your hair dyed blonde again!"
Jodi did actually ask to be the wife of a wife-killer. She has to be about 59 marbles short of chinese checkers.
