We could set a few national standard gasoline emissions rates. This will clean up the air and reduce gas prices

Had local citizens expressed an interest, control of federal forests, and the lakes and streams in those forests, would have been turned over to citizens who formed local management teams.

Conservatives, for some strange reason, refuse to get involved in local politics and the subsequent control of local resources. Then they bitch about how they have no access to federal resources.

That is a cherished motive on the Left: the hope that progressives will be able to take hold of the state and use it to dictate to the rest of humanity, supposedly for the benefit of everyone.

Wasn't that their hope with the Kyoto Protocol, and the IPCC report, that the UN would dominate in directing how the climate should be 'protected'.

Go Google on the "Sierra Business Council" as they were one of the first phony GANG-GREEN groups in Northern CA to come up with their phony "Sierra Wealth Index!"

This "study" complete with slanted data designed to manipulate their media message referred to "Natural Capital" throughout their purposeful propoganda "study" the the MSM just dutifly swallowed whole.

So, I'm sincerely sorry, but when I see that "Natural Capital" phrase pop up in this writing, I react violently to it! These are the same people that gave Governor Schwartzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver Kennedy and their children a free rafting trip down the South Fork of the American River immediately after Arnold's election to apply their intensely subtle lobbying effort!

The same effort was extremely successful on Republican Governor Pete Wilson and naturally they had to try it on Arnold as well. It worked! They got him to sign the biggest governmental land-use control law ever seen in the USA that overlays 25 MILLION acres of eastern CA called the Sierra-Nevada Conservancy!!!

He signed this at the very same time he was talking very CONservatively about all the boxes on the state government's organizational chart by saying:"I'm going to blow up those boxes!" This state agency formation with a minority of elected representatives on it's Board of Directors and employing state salaried/pensioned employees was of course the opposite action!!!
