Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson signed on with Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign yesterday, saying "it's entirely possible" his ex-spy wife will hit the trail with her, too.
Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, was outed as a covert CIA operations officer by President Bush's advisers in 2003 as they sought to discredit her Iraq war critic husband. She's writing a memoir due in the fall.
"I would expect her to be engaged [politically] probably after the book tour," Wilson told the Daily News after Clinton announced his endorsement.
Wilson said his wife shunned politics during her two decades as a covert spy. But now that she's retired, "I don't think you'll find her politics are much different than mine," Wilson said from his home in Santa Fe, N.M.
At a House hearing after Vice President Cheney's top aide Lewis (Scooter) Libby was convicted of perjury in the leak probe, Plame said she was a Democrat. The couple recently dined with one of Washington's most notable moderates, Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, who urged her to run for office as a centrist, sources said.
Clinton praised Wilson's endorsement because he "stood up to this administration" by challenging Bush's reasons for invading Iraq.
"I'm so pleased that we share the goal of ending this war so that we can begin bringing our troops home safely," she said.
Wilson said Clinton had reached out to the couple in their "darkest hours."
"I want somebody who's going to fight for me," he said.
Not again! The whole Wilson/Plame farce started when Joe joined Kerry’s campaign. Wilson is only in this for the political influence he can gain and the money he can make. He was a self-serving bastard back in 2004, and he’s a self-serving bastard today. It’s time these people who live off the Federal government found honest work or retired.

No, as it turns out Plame WASN’T really a covert agent.

Libby, what about the others?
During the course of an investigation to determine who identified Valerie Plame as a CIA employee, Richard Armitage - who admitted being the leaker - has not been indicted or prosecuted?
Rather than shutting down the investigation after the leaker’s identity was known, Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald continued taking depositions and hauling people before grand juries to entrap them into making misstatements for which they could be indicted?
Scooter Libby, who was not the leaker, was the only person prosecuted as a result of an investigation to find the leaker?
Scooter Libby was found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice in a trial during which no witness corroborated the story of another witness...meaning that their versions of events were no more or less credible than Libby’s?
I love the title; Plame’s husband! LOL.
The poor Mr. Plame must be having hissy fits that he is now referred to as Plame’s husband; for an egomaniac such as he is, this must be tearing him up. HA. I love it!
