"Homeland Security also began a series of public meetings this week along the border to discuss the agency's plans to extend the fence to 370 miles."
Geeeezzzzzzz...the Chinese progressed better than these clowns.

Environazis sued to stop the fence construction...GWB won the court cases...construction has begun again...but this is somehow both bad and Bush’s fault in your worldview?!
Sheesh!

My first thought, upon reading the headline, was ‘did we cede ND to Canada?’

"BushÂs fault?" just think...16 more months and you won’t have to make excuses any more for Bush’s failure to enforce the immigration laws & security of this country's borders that he took an oath to do when he entered office...of course we wouldn’t want to upset the Bush in-laws now would we. LOL

"Opponents worried it would limit access to the Rio Grande, damage the environment and infuriate Mexicans who cross the border to shop and visit."
Are those the ones that come here to visit for life?

I will draw you a map to explain what is wrong with illegal immigration

A couple of comments here:
First, anyone on the border who objects to the fence can have the fence built just to the north of them on the next approving American’s land.
Second, I thought Mexicans are too poor to buy American goods north of the border.
Third, migrant birds can clear a 16 foot fence and shifting dirt if they have too. Actually, this might even be a blessing for them. I see birds on top of my fences and electric poles all the time. Apparently these are place perfectly for their rest.
And finally, “virtual fences” are only good to stop “virtual illegal immigrants”.

Sensitive land- My sore butt.....
The illegal intruders aren’t at all “sensitive” about all the used diapers, bottles, prayer rugs, Koran copies, etc, that they are discarding on their trek north.
I am soooooo over the calls of the environazis complaining about each and everything we all do every day to try and protect this country. They can go sit on the border like they like to sit in redwood trees, IMO, and maybe one of them will grow a brain and get a clue.

Third, migrant birds can clear a 16 foot fence and shifting dirt if they have too. Perhaps they meant birds in the British sense of the word, the American equivalent being chicks, of course. It would be more logical that women, and even children, would be hardest hit in having to scale a 16 foot fence.

If the Mexicans are that serious, I’d expect to see many catapults, mattresses, and duct tape showing up at the fence. Me guesses the children will travel farther than the woman.

W should have issued an Executive Order on 09/12/01 to build the friggin' fence.
Where do we think these cells came from?

...”But environmentalists worry that shifting dirt will spill north into a federally protected estuary, disrupting a key stopover for more than 370 species of migratory and native birds”.....God give me strength!...These bird huggers will have a lot more to worry about if a dirty bomb gets into the country!...their precious birds wouldn’t have a damn estuary to land in!
