You are right about how well dogs do with three legs. I had a Doberman who had a hind leg amputated because of cancer. She was almost as fast on three as she was on four. I heard the “old adage” from a few people that God gave Dogs three good legs and a spare. I believe it. I saw it.

Veterinary prosthetics - what a concept. This has hugh applications to meat animals like pigs and cattle. We don’t have to slaughter them for meat, just a humane amputation, fit ol’ porker with a prosthesis and fresh pork roast!
