Since we ‘contribute’ up to 30% of their funding, I don’t think they’re talking about Liechtenstein. Just read between the lines. :)

There is a school of thought that suggests that the "bread basket" USA  has actually contributed to the suffering of millions in undeveloped countries by continuing to feed what are essentially unstainable population growths in such places. Of course it is convluted logic to blame the USA for allowing so many to be fed and at the same time blaming America because we don't keep the ridiculous growing population fed at what would be our standards.
 
I dunno, maybe that makes a lot of sense, maybe not.
 
I read Ishmael some years ago, and it was  interesting, but somehow I lost the book and so I have not been able to go back and review it. There is a web site though. Link here, but you might have to muddle through a lot in order to figure out Quinn's point. I did.
