The Washington Post WASHINGTON — A grand feast of marinated steaks and jumbo shrimp was winding down, and a group of friends was sitting on the back patio of a Capitol Hill home, sipping red wine. I would have hugged him real tight while I bought up my knee into a very vital area then would have called 911.

“Maybe the liberals are right. Hug a thug.”

I wouldn’t count on it. I suspect that some group of anti-gun nuts decided to pull a hoax.

His whole emotional tone turned — like, we're one big happy family now. I thought: Was it the wine? Was it the cheese?"

I'd have "turned his whole emotional tone"...

Not with wine or cheese.

Glad the kid didn't get macked, but these folks are pansies.

I'd have hugged him. And just as I did, shot him in the heart.

Oh, wait... I wouldn't have had a gun on me at a backyard barbecue!

Why not?

Heck, hereabouts we usually have a couple out on the table showing them off.

Or a couple elsewhere that aren't showed off.

Hell, we even have toy guns hanging around the place. We each could pull on of those out and say ‘bang, bang, you’re dead’.
