Truly, it would need to be verified and it would be a mistake to believe it too quickly. As pointed out in the story, the Haditha Massacre was believed too readily, and it's best not to fall into that trap.

However, these are the people who saw heads off, videotape the act and post the video on the internet. At a certain point, cries of, "They couldn't! They wouldn't!" become largely irrelevant. It's a plain fact that these people are capable of unspeakable atrocities. We know that. But we still haven't really accepted it.

You are right on that point.

On a side note, after GW I, I attended a desalination conference in DC. The guest speaker was the Kuwaiti Minister of Water, whose speech to us was quite moving. I still have a copy of the book of photographs that gave testament to what these people are capable of.

This story, though I agree with you, I will remain skeptical until more information is available.
