Fred D. Thompson has decided not to formally announce his presidential campaign this month and may wait until September to end the suspense for Republicans, according to several sources in his campaign.
When the former senator from Tennessee first acknowledged his interest in the White House in early June, campaign advisers indicated he was likely to wait until early July to announce, after spending a month raising money and putting together an organization.

They used to say the real date would be July 4th and his supporters were all excited. He is mean to his supporters by doing this, bobbing them up and down on a string.
suing should be using. Though accurate perhaps, given he’s a lawyer...
As for this being irritating, for your team I am sure it is...
Actually, this could turn out to be a stroke of genius. Make the announcement on the Labor Day Weekend, and release a statement to the effect that political campaigns had been starting earlier and earlier, and that he chose not to do so to try to restore some sanity to the election process. This gives him the "high ground" and makes his opponents look like over-eager amateurs.
At the rate things have been going, I was concerned I would be getting my 2016 election bumper stickers in February...
I’ve been predicting that he could and probably would wait until Sept-Oct before subjecting himself to the stupid games and tricks that the other candidates are performing, and I think it was March that I spoke to people here about that.
It’s getting to look more and more likely that will be true.
Fred is already in the race, he's playing by his own rules and not those by the establishment. If he wasn't running, he wouldn't be writing his articles and attending GOP/conservative functions. Look, it's summer. Fred is subconsciously telling folks to have a good time and take their minds off of politics.
Who is "they"? Sources close to Thompson adamantly denied that date, which was just a media guess. Like all of the other "dates" being thrown out there.
How so? It was the Fredheads who brought up rumors of the July 4th announcement, not Thompson.
You're not going to support him anyway, so why do you care?

Oops: that last ping to you was for someone else.
I want to say, to you, that your definition of “Leader” and what an “American Leader” should be doing right now is perfectly, dead-on accurate:
“The people want a fence and locked down border; free speech in campaigns as in the 1st Amend; spending under control, the IRS abolished, and the enemy wiped out.”
She knows that.
Presumably, it is “better” for their own candidates aspirations and fund-raising, etc... Why all the angst and anxiety about Thompson’s behavior here?
Wow, the Washington ComPost says September. (unconfirmed)
Wow, CNN says August. (unconfirmed)
Wow, the LA Times says Fred or his firm was maybe hired 16 years ago by a pro-choice group. (unconfirmed)
I’m thinking we’d better check with Huffington Post to get the real poop.
I'm with you, but I'm not sure Fred is with us on this one.
Then why does everyone get so upset when someone politicises an issue, or is accused of playing politics?
Good points, also he is probably waiting for an opening between terror attacks and the press hissy fits over various issues. Not to mention the hot story of the day (Benoit or missing girls). Its a lot like the stock market...what is a good entry point.
As Wilma would say.....Freddddddddddddddddd get with it...
