Does this mean Vegas has to reimburse any losing wagers from those games? /sarcasm

What’s to appeal? They got a slap on the wrist.
I thought the NCAA was tough on repeat offenders. I guess not unless they don’t bring in the big $$$$$ to the NCAA checking account.

I thought the NCAA was tough on repeat offenders. The NCAA is a complete joke. I never understood why players aren't allowed to profit for their efforts from non-school-related funding sources.

OU would be better off flushing those attorney fee monies for an appeal down the toilet.

Two scholarships isn’t anything in football. You get 85! A real slap on the wrist. I’d love to see them come down hard on high profile cheaters. Won’t happen though. Coppin State or someone like that will take the hit instead.

What Oklahoma got could be small potatoes compared to what USC could get as a penalty if the revelations about Reggie Bush are true. Obviously the NCAA will have to prove them, but I would guess a lot of colleges have the long knives out for the Trojans. Time will tell.

At least its not a machine gun fired out of a dorm window (this time).
No show jobs should prepare some of them for future union/mob jobs

The NCAA is judge and jury.......a freakin kangaroo court! OU found and reported the violation and sent the players packing!

I thought the NCAA was tough on repeat offenders.Come on. Oklahoma isn't SMU. After Alabama got off easy a few years ago, it's clear different rules apply to the power programs.

It's like NASCAR. If you draw a lot of fans, you just get a slap on the wrist.

Alabama got of easy? Well I guess they did since Coach Fran flew the coop and went to Aggy.
No, they lost one season of bowl eligility and schollies and their program went to the pits for a few seasons. They are barely getting back.

It reminds me of what Jerry Tarkanian said, “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, they put Cleveland State on probation.”

“OU found and reported the violation and sent the players packing!”
Yup... I figure that the NCAA might’ve even been a little harsh, and I agree with OU that declaring all of those games “losses” is probably just piling on. I can see the loss of scholarships — it will keep all the programs checkin up on their players.

They are allowed to profit illegally when they throw the games and point shave as the Toledo football team apparently did in 2005 which was being investigated by the FBI.

This reminds me of the Barry Switzer years. Oklahoma provided great fringe benefits to its players. When Barry left OK to coach the Dallas Cowboys, many were postulating on how well he would do. One person commented, “I don’t know, this’ll be the first year that Barry’s ever operated with a salary cap.” One of my favorite all-time lines!!

By SMU standards, Alabama deserved the death penalty for the program.
