Vice President Cheney attended a closed-door Republican luncheon to appeal for party unity in what Sen. Susan Collins (Maine) called “a vigorous debate.” Sen. Ted Stevens (Alaska) said he took Cheney’s side, telling his colleagues: “If we leave prematurely, it would be absolute anarchy. We’d be turning over to al-Qaeda one of the largest oil-producing states in the world.”

I don’t believe that McCain’s support of the war is responsible for his decline. McCain is not Presidential material, no matter what he believes.

I am conflicted as to what to think about the War in Iraq, other than sensing that our congress (senate) wants to lose this war. I have two points which upset my belief, we really want to win this war. 1) I believe Sadr should be long dead by now, but isn’t. 2) I bleive Sadr City should have been bulldozed long ago, and wasn’t. Other than those two points, I believe we are on track, except for iran. We could win this war tommorrow if we had the will, but the will does not appear to be anywhere where said will can be found. Will, you out there?

Since this would clearly be an impossible situation and would tie any efforts to quell violence, the only responsible position is either stay and go for broke, or pull em all out.
Can you imagine if we'd employed this same type of strategy in Viet Nam?

We must win this War, we have no choice. And, we are. McNut is is as right on this as he was wrong on illegals. But, Linsay Graham takes it even further. He really definds the whole issue. The good news is that the surge is working!
Yes we must win this war but we aren’t acting as though we desire to win this war. Look at the senate and congress, as a whole. Look at the other factors involved in winning this war. This war is global and our leadership refuses to secure our borders. The surge is working yes, but why is Sadr still alive? Why are we even talking about how to define victory? Why don’t we simply go ahead and win this war with sheer might. We have the capability, but I don’t see the will. The world will hate us, no matter what, so why not take the gloves off and win? I truly don’t know... other than possibly we are afraid. But what are we afraid of....winning?
Think you need to read your tag line. The Rats and the media are giving up and a couple of idiot Republicans, but, WE ARE WINNING, we haven`t been attacked here, and most of the Republican senators really understand what is at stake. We just have to turn the heat up on the Rat Senators and be active on Talk Radio and with Letters to the Editor. One thing that has to change is calling this a civil war and/or an Insurgency. It`s neither, it`s Iran supporting al-Qaeda. And they must lose.
Come back and tell me we won when we win....until then the issue is in doubt (it is called the fog of war) since we refuse to have the will to win. As for your other comment, I trust me and I trust my eyes and ears, all else is folly.
We can’t win this war until we begin to treat all of Islam as our enemy.
Why?
Because it is.
Nuke it, bulldoze it, salt the earth and make sure nothing escapes.
THEN and only then will this war be won.
It is a PROPOGANDA WAR, it has little relation to what actually happens on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we should NEVER FORGET THAT.

I hate the US military. I hate the fact that the US military is using illegal weapons in Iraq such as chemical weapons and flechettes.
I also hate the fact that they are equivocating claiming that they are not using napalm (gasoline based incendiary) when they are using MK77 (kerosene based incendiary), both banned under the conventional weapons convention.
I hate the warmongering senior officers in the Pentagon. I hate their simian, civilian “leaders”. I hate the junior officers who follow orders without questioning.
I really hate the US military. I do not support the US military.
I sincerely hope the US military loses in Iraq. I hope much of their equipment is destroyed and that they sustain a lot of casualties. The US military does not fight for me or my freedoms. The US military is a whore to the corporations.
Now I hope for a US military defeat in their new war on Iran. I hope many US troops are killed and wounded. F(My Edit)ck the US military.
They are Nazis and not worthy of respect. I welcome and cheer anybody who burns US flags at military and veteran cemeteries.”
This goes on 24/7, every single day, and has since the war has begun. Eventually, propoganda uncountered by equally spread hyperbole, SEEDED WITH THE FACTS, has it’s intended effect.

HEAR! HEAR! I opposed McCain’s campaign finance reform. I opposed him and the “Gang of Fourteen.” I opposed him on immigration. Hower, I was so impressed with his speech on Iraq yesterday that I am going to send his campaign a contribution. If we allow the Democrats to lose this war, the blowback will be so horrendous that I shudder to think about it. Our loss in Nam led to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, which, in turn, gave the jihadists a sanctuary. That sanctuary became the base from which the 9-11 plot was hatched. If these idiot Dems think that we can just walk away from this thing without consequences, they are even more committed to short-term political gain than I thought.
Unfortunately, even if the surge tuns out to be the greatest military offensive in the history of combat the Dems and the media will be calling it a failure. 24/7. In fact, the more successful it is the stronger they will attack it.
