It is poor strategic thinking to abuse prisoners, because it gives soldiers a strong incentive to fight to the death, rather than surrender. I dare say there are a lot of Marines in the Philippines who will choose to die and take as many Abu Sayef fighters with them in the next fight where they find themselves in a strategically untenable position.

Corruption is also rife in the Philippines--some list it as the third most corrupt country in Asia--and that extends to the military. Oftentimes, the islamofascists get their weapons from corrupt soldiers.

While it isn't a good thing that these marines died, it could lead to a moderate decrease in cooperation between corrupt military personnel along with bolstering support against the islamofascists.

The second part of comment 13 should have been a general statement to all the readers out there. It wasn't for you gridlock, though it was addressed to you.

The Philippines and various related words are often misspelled.

It’s a common muslim fighting methods... beheading actually ensures 100% death to an enemy, obviously! Muslim warfare is neither communist, barbaric or democratic... it’s just the Muslim way - treacherous attacks, beheadings, rape and mass murder.
