You bet I do and you had better bet that I have lots of company these days too. Bush approval below 30% and congress below 20%... Yes, they have many fans...

Public service was never intended to be a full-time job much less a life-long career. All conservatives know this...

True conservatives don’t need politics to get rich. True conservatives do what Thompson did, become successful in the private sector, then serve and return to the private sector.

Nothing good has come from career politics, nothing.

Hunter is a good man. I’ve never said otherwise. But he’s no more conservative than Thompson. Don’t kid yourself.

REAGAN - Tear down that wall!

HUNTER - Build that fence!

So, we are supposed to go on what type of job is popular these days. How about we apply your test to Thompson. To my knowledge he has been a Lawyer, Lobbyist, Senator, and Actor. My guess is that most conservatives don’t exactly hold those professions in high esteem either. However, its not the job that either Hunter or Thompson has had that counts its their personal integrity. I have seen nothing to suggest that either of them are anything other than men of the highest integrity. So, your argument about Rep. Hunter being a career politician is simply a red herring. Once again, some of the most respected men in American history were “career politicians.”
