This is all that matters for 2008. You got a nation of politically illiterate bozoâs who vote on emotion and who ever promises to loot the treasury and dump it into their laps. The republican party is in shambles thanks to you know {W}ho; who did his best to run it into the ground. Conservatives cannot become provincial idealogical purists and nominate a someone who cant win so as to make a ill-fated gesture. Fred might not be the most stalwart, but he’s who the rats fear the most. The grand object is winning the election, so as a rat infested WH does not become a bitter reality.
The fact that that seems to be the biggest selling point for Thompson speaks volumes about possible lackluster conservative credentials.
Maybe Thompson will prove in the campaign to be the best choice, but I'm not comfortable about the way mere speculation about electability is supposed to close a serious examination of the issues among all the candidates.
