Campaign Manager, Chief Strategist for McCain resign Tue Jul 10 2007 11:23:10 ET
ARLINGTON, VA - Terry Nelson, Campaign Manager and John Weaver, Chief Strategist for John McCain 2008 issued the following statements:
"This morning I informed Senator McCain that I would be resigning from his presidential campaign, effective immediately. It has been a tremendous honor to serve Senator McCain and work on his campaign. I believe John McCain is the most experienced and prepared candidate to represent the Republican Party and defeat the Democratic nominee next year." - Terry Nelson, Campaign Manager
"As of today, I have resigned my position as chief strategist to John McCain's presidential campaign. It has been my honor and a distinct privilege to serve someone who has always put our country first. I believe that most Americans will come to the conclusion that I have long known there is only one person equipped to serve as our nation's chief executive and deal with the challenges we face, and that person is John McCain." - John Weaver, Chief Strategist

It looks like the wheels are coming off the "Straight Talk Express."

Don't fear:
He's on television this morning talking about his latest trip to Iraq...
Guess which McCain position the media will inform us was his downfall.
I wonder if McCrazy can even comprehend what he’s done to himself and his campaign.
His advocacy for Amnesty shows a very serious lack of practical judgement. Though he did resort to the very childish ruse of taking his name off the bill and not voting on it during the last month. Gee, that fooled everyone. “Gosh, the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill wasn’t really from McCain.”

Right... little johnny bit the big one right HERE.
Ambiguous Democrat Man
Though I abandoned Sen. McCain many months ago because of his immigration stance, I shall always admire him for his principals. Say what you want, at least he's been true to his beliefs, albeit unpopular here on FR. He's also been a true stalwart on the Global War on Terror--never wavering about need to defeat the jihadists and, though mostly hated by FReepers, he was right on the need for overwhelming force as a strategy to win--which was discarded by Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz and, initially, the president.
I just read on the US senate web
Mc Gone
It's repulsive!
Wow, Weaver has had an absolute man crush on McCain forever, if he’s leaving then the party is just about over.
I totally agree with you on the war on terror stuff. He has been a stalwart and would make a find Commander in Chief. It is too bad the the White House didn’t listen to him on the need for overwhelming force. If they had, they wouldn’t be in the pickle they are in now. Unfortunately, McCain’s views on domestic issues ‘dun him in.’ And I wasn’t being sarcastic, I would bet you money that those who two quit were telling him all along that his immigration stance wouldn’t hurt his presidential chances. As we learned a couple of weeks ago, a lot of Beltway ‘experts’ have no clue how the rest of the country feels about the failure to secure our borders. If he had been as stalwart on border enforcement as he was on defense, I think he would have had a very good chance of becoming president.
BTW: who else is CFR in this race? Clinton, for sure. Edwards? Gore? Romney?
It is wrong. The Governor appoints a replacement from the same party as the person who vacated the seat. The appointment is good until the next general election where voters elect a replacement for the remainder of the term, or for a full term if the previous is expiring.
Money problems? Where are the Democrats who love him, and he them?
Translation...”we ain’t gettin’ paid.”
What do you wanna bet McCain is going to shift his stance on Iraq and/or/both switch parties?
