Toddler Was Denied Shower Access as Well:

A couple says their vacation was ruined when an RV park owner told them they weren't welcome after discovering their 2-year-old foster son had the HIV virus. Last week, Dick and Silvia Glover went to the Wales West RV Park in Silver Hill, Ala., with their foster son Caleb. When the boy was banned from using the pool and showers, the Glovers said they were offered an uncomfortable and painful choice: They could either keep Caleb out of the water or leave.

Sorry, the Pool Owner did an illegal thing.

You are not going to catch HIV by swimming in a pool with someone who’s HIV+.

My God the ignorance here knows no bounds.

“And if the RV park owner knew the kid had HIV, allowed him to swim, and some other child was infected, guess who would be sued.”

And liable and having to live with that decision the remainder of his days.

Some of the PC, holier-than-thou posts here would crack me up if they weren’t so sad. “You need to wear a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and long pants to ride your bike but feel free to jump in the pool with a kid with AIDS”.

The thinly veiled Southern basing in this thread is typical as well.

If you can find one case of a person contracting HIV from being in a swimming pool I will admit that I am wrong.

But, I know that I am right.

Potentially expose others???????

My God I am amazed at the abject ignorance displayed here.

Please, site me 1 case, 1 case where ANYONE has contracted HIV by simply swimming in a pool with an HIV+ person.

This pool owner broke the law, and it will likely cost him very dearly.

It’s shameful that such ignorance exists in this day and age on this topic.

The ignorants minds are made up, don’t try to confuse them with the facts.

HIV transmission by pool water is laughable, and fear of it is ignorant beyond belief.

I doubt the two year old baby will be at the pool having sex, giving blood transfusions or sharing dirty needles with the other kids.

Think there is any chance he might leave bodily fluids in the pool? Can you insure that he had no scrapes or cuts in his skin? Ever see a 2 year old with a Band Aid?

Can HIV be transmitted in swimming pool water?

“HIV cannot be spread by sharing washing facilities or swimming in the same pool with an HIV-infected person...”

Go ahead. Let your kid be the first.

“This pool owner broke the law, and it will likely cost him very dearly.”

It’s a private pool. What law?

“He/She has set himself up for a discrimination lawsuit that he will lose and likely cost him his park.”

Well, if he “loses” it because he didn’t let a person with a deadly, communicable disease swim in his pool, it was never his to begin with.

HIV is not passed through pool water... there is nothing PC or non PC about this.. what there is is a WHOLE LOT OF UNGODLY IGNORANCE.

If people found out he’s knowingly allowing HIV carriers in the pool he’d be sued out of business in about a week.

See, that’s one reason* I hate Skynyrd. There’s no reason at all besides sheer laziness to start three of four lines with “Well.”

*I have others. This is merely one.

Right on.

None of the posts here have struck on simple fact that you can’t get HIV from swimming in a pool with someone who has the virus. If you tell yourself that you wouldn’t get into the same pool as someone with HIV (barring, for argument’s sake, a situation in which the person were bleeding copiously while you were tending to your score of gaping wounds), then you could use some basic education on how HIV is transmitted.

Please cite one case where a person contracted HIV in a swimming pool who was not at the time having sex, sharing needles or giving blood for a transfusion.

BTW-Do you think they use chlorine in that pool?

Your ignorance truly knows no bounds does it?

Public pools are filled with millions of people every year, if you think every one of them has always been HIV- you are beyond a fool.

HIV is not transmitted through pool water, the fact is HIV is actually pretty damned difficult to spread (fortunately). Even when pricked with a needle from an HIV+ patient, the likelihood of the person pricked developing HIV is only a few percentage points.

The idea that its spread by swimming in a pool is just flat out foolishness.

Professional victims who crave attention 24/7 routinely provoke incidents like this one.

I'm with the park owner.

2 year olds do bite however. At that age it really is hard to make them understand they can’t interact like other children, especially in a conflict with other kids.
