Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens, headlined Al Gore's Live Earth concert in Hamburg July 7. This is a man who advocated author Salman Rushdie's death. In 1989, Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for the execution of Rushdie. Yusuf, who converted to Islam in the 1970s, was asked about the fatwa during a UK TV program on April 15, 1989. Geoffrey Robinson: You don't think that this man deserves to die? Yusuf: Who, Salman Rushdie?... Yes, Yes. After all of the denials and obfuscations by Yusuf, the smoking gun is now available on YouTube where Yusuf can be seen and clearly heard making the statements about harming and burning Rushdie.

Alan Colmes on “Hannity & Colmes” was defending this Mooslim a few nights ago. He refused to admit what Cat Stevens had said in the past.
I wonder what he sang, because he once swore he’d only record and/or sing songs praising Allah. I wonder if he lied to Allah and sang his old hits. If so, shouldn’t he face Islamic justice for lying to Allah?

Go easy on Cat, he’s merely trying to save us from Rushdie’s carbon footprint. /sarc
Think I'll send that vid over to Alan Colmes. He accused a guest on H&C last week of lying about Yusuf approving of the Rushdie Fatwa, and got pretty hostile about it. Not surprising though -- Colmes regularly defends those who support Jihad.
The Los Angeles Times ran a long article about a radical Islamic from
Morocco that was the subject of a sizeable manhunt.
BURIED deep in the article was a throw-away line about how the Islamist
had a prominent friend in the music industy...Yusuf Islam.
While the article did mention that the Islamist friend was the artist
formerly known as “Cat Stevens”...
there was no connnecting of the dots.
Such as this alliance may have been part of the reason that Yusuf Islam
had been turned away when he tried to fly to the USA.
Great reporting (/sarc)
I saw that. And Alan Colmes is the gentleman among the Liberals, too.
Both environmentalism and Islam share a distaste for humanity.
According to an article by Craig R. Whitney in the New York Times, "Cat Stevens Gives Support To Call for Death of Rushdie" published on May 22, 1989, "rather than go to a demonstration to burn an effigy of the author Salman Rushdie" Yusuf said on the program that (direct quote) "I would have hoped that it'd be the real thing."You can hear those words at the very end of the youtube clip.
saw colmes defending the muzzie sympathizer the other night...
colmes is a perfect mouthpiece for the lib/dems....total dope with no facts ~ just defend the muzzies for political correctness!!!
It’s time to burn your Cat Stevens records so that their carbon can fill the atmosphere.
Who would admit to owning any of his records? His music was never very good.
