I am amazed at how many people here on FR seem willing to assume that anyone who says anything negative about Fred Thompson must be lying.

Excuse me... The LAT Times, some RAT congressmen (known to be a pathological liar), and a strident pro-abortion group are not "anyone". The only thing that should amaze you is how you are still uncertain after a Thompson spokesman had "adamantly denied" the story.

Do you really want to win, then don’t disgust the religious base of the RNC by your personnel staffing decisions.

Not everyone in the 'religious base' is going to reject a candidate because he or she happens to hire someone on the staff who is homosexual. YOU may feel that way, but I don't.

If he hires more folks like this man, does this mean you wouldn't vote for him if he ends up being the Republican nominee? If not, then you must be content to allow Her Heinous or Obama to gain the office. If that happens, Fred's simple hiring of someone who happens to be homosexual will look like small potatoes with the societal changes either of those two would attempt.

“If that happens, Fred’s simple hiring of someone who happens to be homosexual will look like small potatoes with the societal changes either of those two would attempt.”

I don’t like being plaid the fool, like so many candidates have done in the past. Promising “moral conservatism” but not really delivering anything but rhetoric.

Rudy or Hillary are very openly what they are, there is nothing hidden about them. They are obvious poison that people know to be careful with when handling - they won’t be able to carry off social change because they polarize and draw fire. What is more insidious (and therefore more dangerous) is someone who claims to be a moral conservative but really isn’t. This is chocolate covered poison. Now I’m not saying that Senator Thompson is a phoney, I really hope he isn’t. However, he has made me stop and think more carefully about my previous excitement about his running. Is it possible he is a stealth liberal? Now I don’t really think that is so, but I’m wondering. Like I said, I’m tired of empty rhetoric and actions that don’t match words.

Regarding voting for Fred if he is not more circumspect about with whom he surrounds himself....If it is small time stuff I will stamp his name on a ballot, but not with a good feeling about it. However, I would with friendly forcefulness say to you and others. Don’t overlook the small stuff because it does add up (just like the frog in a kettle of heated water).

Oh and by the way, his stands on homosexuality will matter to the conservative, protestant, evangelical base of the Republican Party. He needs to play attention to details because they matter to those of us that have been mislead so many times. Newt is starting to look good to me now.

Newt is starting to look good to me now.

Newt will never be elected to national office. The media hates him, and will continually berate him in every way, as they did when he led the overtaking of Congress in 1994. I know the media is against George W. Bush too, but Newt just doesn't have the personal charm to overcome the continual media negativity.

As far as I am aware Romney did not sign a single legislation promoting abortion rights or promoted it.

Fred on the other hand could have lobbied for abortion rights if the article is true.

That is a BIG difference with someone who basically changed his mind and did not assist the cause before.

Not that i care about this, imo many Fred supporters routinely attack Romney on this issue.

As far as i am concerned this is just hypocrisy on their behalf, I support Fred if he wins the nomination.

But i think, he is just a bit too lazy to keep with the tough side of Presidential elections.
