London - An estimated two billion people worldwide have watched the Live Earth concerts on the television. The shows designed to highlight climate change were organised in Australia, Asia, Europe, South Africa and the United States. Dozens of stars such as Crowded House, Madonna and The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed in cities which included Sydney, New York and London.
The global series of concerts kicked off in Sydney Australia where the show started with a traditional welcome dance by members of the Aboriginal community. Live Earth is the brainchild of former US presidential candidate Al Gore. He opened the event in Washington, and spoke to the public in Tokyo via satellite, saying it was high time to heal the planet. Live Earth is ending with a concert in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday evening.
The piece came from Radio Netherlands, or didn’t you know
how to check sources at FR?
Weren’t you aware of the fact the Netherlands has the freest media in the world and the Dutch are among the wealthiest Europeans as well as the tallest?
Get an education, shorty.
I’m watching it right now (I’m bored) and this chick singing on stage has a t-shirt on that has Dick Cheney crossed out on it.
Yeah, this event is all about Global Warming. What a fraud.
They didn’t even have 2 million but 2 billion will be the groupthink number.
PRay for W and Our Troops
I think results need to be announced early to build mo for the next - and then the next concerts - including the one they
just announced for DC.
Don’t you?
What do you think of the Branson Saab?
Neat, huh?
Have you seen the 0-60 times on this baby?
There were alot of empty seats
Yes and from the mother-ship you can make a better count. :)
Yeah - ExxonMobil bought up a lot of seats and made you think nobody was interested. It would be their style.
The 0-60 is measured on a Sundial.
Pray for W and Our Troops
sniff sniff
I caught part of it while channel surfing. Old 70’s hippies still trying to play the same old songs. I suppose we will have to endure their singing as they graduate to walkers. Pink Floyd sucked.
You may be on to something.
Defines the Sins, Collects the sacrifice for atonement.
I Donât Believe IT!!!! Your are talking about 1/3 of EVERYONE on this PLANET. Only a TINY fraction of the third world has a TV,and the rest of the world has better things to do than watch those STUPID concerts featuring has bends and losers.
There are roughly 6 billion people on Earth. How many billion in Asia(China and India)have no TV? How many tens to hundreds of million in south and Central America have no tv? How many hundreds of millions have no tv in Africa? Then consider how few 45+ year olds in Europe, North America, Australia and wealthier areas are going to tune in. Your not left with many people. I know of no one including my lefty friends who watched this. 2 billion my....
Pink Floyd was there? Was it all 4 again, or just the 3 (Gilmoure, Wright, and Mason). They sucked? The 4 were actually quite awesome at the "Live 8" concert a few years ago. In fact, they really stole the show (and I heard that they were offered $250 million to go on tour, but David Gilmoure turned it down, saying "been there, done that." Roger Waters is a hard core, unabashed socialist.
